Aftermarket Headlights to replace Xenons

Hi,

I've been having a hunt for new headlights as my are wreck due to leaking etc. And I want to get some aftermarket headlights. I'm looking at a set on ebay.

Now my issue is, my headlights used to be xenon - I say used to be as when I bought the car there were no ballasts or Xenon bulbs in them. Also my auto height adjusters don't work.

Will I be OK to put any aftermarket headlight in as they're currently only running on normal bulbs?

I thought the LCM was different between Xenon and Halogen cars? Does your current setup work ok (flash-to-pass, sidelights, etc) with no indicator failure?

Sounds very odd, does your light switch have two wheel controls on it? I would have thought that you would have no high-beam or flash to pass unless the car has been coded.

Flash and highbeam etc all work. I don't have 2 wheel controls on my light control.

markeg - what do you mean indicator failure? Everything works fine?

if a light is out, the front indicator comes on as a solid light. Did you get any information on the conversion from the previous owner?

When my dipped beam headlight blew my indicator did light up until I replaced it?

And no the previous owner was useless tbh - he's pretty much wrecked the car when I bought it.

Yep - thats the indicator displaying the fault (you should have had a light on the dash as well).
Might be an idea to get a leccy to take a look at the headlights to make sure its a clean conversion?

Why would someone take them out?! Or did they just shove in a Xenon LCM? What does BMW Archive say about the options on your VIN? All sounds very, very odd. Who was this fool, sounds like he deserves a backhand!

No idea. When I bought the car it had no xenon's and 1 ballast (not connected). It simply had standard H7 bulbs in. What should the conversion be? I have had the warning light on my dash when the bulb went out too. Is this a major issue? Everything else works as it should?

BMW Archive? What's that?

Wondering if the previous owner attempted a xenon installation and that the car was originally fitted with standard halogens? Can't see why else it would only have an odd ballast etc?

There should be a way of checking the vin to see what options it had fitted at build.

I checked the BMW Archive and my car came with Xenon as standard! But its definitely not running them now. I've ordered new lights so I'm just going to plug them in and see if they work...wish me luck!
