aftermarket headlight washer or stuck with genuine?

Need to replace. a leaky headlight washer jet, looking at the prices is a lil pants, £100. Does anyone have any alternatives?
 
Personally I’d stick with original - or you could just pull the fuse and not worry about them. If they aren't Xenon lights they should be fine when it comes time for MOT iirc. Also check its not leaking from the pipe that goes into the back too in case its just that and needs refitting.
 
It’s more that my washer fluid keeps draining out :lol: otherwise I wouldn’t mind too much. Will take bumper off and have a nosey.
 
Not a legal requirement as all e85/e86 are pre the 2009 xenon washer regs.

Plug the washer bottle. No need to have washers on any of our cars anyway… we should be cleaning them (our Zeds) regularly after all!

I had to replace one when I bought mine. The unit itself was leaking and previous owner had blocked the pipes off at the tank. I ordered an eBay one, but they all seem to come with a single jet, not the double the original has. I returned it and bit the bullet for a £85 genuine one from the dealer. Fairly easy to fix and had no issues since I reconnected them.
 
My current Z4 had a leaking headlamp washer when I bought it, but I already had a used pair I had bought on here - just in case!

As soon as it was fixed I pulled Fuse 40 so they no longer put streaks up the wings, lost covers or spat out the plungers. :D

No MOT issues with my 2006 car.
 
I'm beginning to understand with over 20,000 posts your something close to Yoda or The orical when it comes to Z4's.............. :thumbsup:
 
Not really, I think it just proves I have too much time on my hands! :lol:
 
Hi all,
I removed the fuse to activate the washer pump, disconnected the pipe (cable tied it to the FEM) and then out a rubber stop with a jubilee clip as I find that the it would drip slightly otherwise. I have never looked back since.

Think I payed less than 100 for one, like maybe 70 lemmy check invoice tomorrow at some point.

Apparently its a shared part with Volvo and that version is cheaper but I struggled to find factual evidence or a part anyways.
 
I replaced one of mine this weekend as I was fed up with all of the washer fluid draining out all of the time. I got an original part from BMW Cotswold. They applied some sort of discount when I asked if they did discounts for forum members (I don’t think they do) and ended up paying £69 and a few pence.
 
Thats not a bad price at all, will give my local one a shout.
