Aftermarket Head Unit

Hi guys!

Sorry if I am being a bit of a noob here, I am going to replace my BMW Head unit which is hooked up to the display navigation unit with a Pioneer one (knowing that the display will not function again). I got all the wiring harnesses, brackets etc. As far as I am aware, my Z4 does not have DSP or a factory Amplifier.

I was going to wire it up altogether but my friend told me that it is a risky job as I could blow a fuse etc. Is this true?

You may get very angry with it and curse a few times but blowing a fuse would be way off the norm.

There's lots of info on Pioneer installs if you do a search on the forum.
 
Do you have speakers in the door?

Adding those usually compensates a bit for the s**t sound system.

Why anyone would spec a £40k car with a crap sound system is beyond me!
 
Not an overly risky job per se.

It's a relatively easy car to fit a headunit to and you should see an improvement.
