Hi
Currently fitting an aftermarket Android Stereo and it seems i have the Hi-Fi system in a facelift E85, with an Amp (behind the rear bulkhead? as its not by battery)
- I get sound through the speakers when using the Radio app but im losing sound from speakers when switching to non-radio apps . On research it seems the amp recieves its remote signal via the Aerial power wire which I think confirms presence of the amp and explains why I lose sound on switching app (confirmed leaving the radio app drops the aerials wire to 0V)
(Annoyingly during fault finding, the Aerial circuit will sometimes power up during switch-on regardless of app started (i assume to raise the aerial) so it does sometimes work on a non-radio app, but cycling apps through radio will result in the loss of 12v on blue aerial wire)
- I next spliced in the Amp remote signal wire from the head unit into the blue aerial wire circuit, this head unit wire tested at 12V when unwired, but for some reason when that is wired into the harness it drops to <6V which isnt enough to switch on the amp
The stereo obviously only has a single ground so i dont think this accounts for the voltage drop but i was using that ground to voltage test the Amp Remote. Im now going to test again using a better ground to try to elimate a bad ground somewhere as the reason for the drop
I also assume it is not a bad ground at the amp as said it works fine for radio
So... question
- Will i be Ok bypassing both Remote and Aerial wires from headunit (removing them form the equation completely) and instead powering the car aerial/remote wire via the 12v switched. Thereby powering both the amp and aerial circuit off switched ignition
Or does anyone have any other ideas why the remote signal will drop when wired in?
