Hi people! Was wondering if you know any companies who make aftermarket disks in stock sizes for our M's.

I saw somewhere that Zimmerman and ATF make OEM replacements, anyone tried disks from them before?

Thanks!

i have ate discs from eurocarparts combined with pagid pads on my ///m

D'OH! it's ATE not ATF! My mistake then.

You happy with them? Are they the same as the stock ones in appearance, materials (as far as you can tell) etc?

These also look nice but are very expensive for rotors only

yes the ate discs are the same standard as oem discs

I don't believe it's the discs that are the weak point in the Z4M's braking system. I believe it's the crappy callipers & pads.

Pity that you've got to spend at least £700 for a pair of multi-piston K-Sport callipers (assuming they'll sell them without their own discs) - but £900 doesn't sound terrible for a 356mm 8-pot set-up. Can't vouch for their quality though as I don't know anyone who's bought them, and I stick to AP or Alcon.

I just looked at eurocarparts for discs and was amused to see left and right front disks at £177 & £184 respectively (with different part numbers)

Also EBC disks at £650+ a pair. :o

Bizare price difference between L & R any reason 'cos I can't think of one!

They also seem much more expensive than I'd have thought almost twice what I paid for discs (£220) on my 350Z!

Not saying i want to change from OEM because they dont perform well, i simply want to change them because they're worn.

CA-Automotive say on their website that Stoptech make stock sized replacement disks but when i tried to order a while back they said that they dont even though they're listed.... I emailed Stoptech but they didnt reply back..... This was months ago though.

Out of interest how do these prices compare to oem? I'm sure mine will need changing before the year is out.

i asked that and they said its because when they get a new supply in they tend to be more pricy so the ones thay had in stock stay at the same price but new stock is priced accordingly :o
bmminiparts are £128+ vat per disc at the moment.

I have dealt with the issue before. Stoptech says they make replacement discs for E85/86 M, ZECKHAUSEN says they don't. Go figure...

Did you ever get a clear answer from anyone?

I've had lots of vendors jerk me around saying "Yea, of course we have for yours.." about Brembo and AP Racing and Performance Friction discs and then nothing...

Really getting on my nerves! :headbang:

An update, a Cypriot parts store just got back to me saying that they can get me Stoptech rotors, front and rear for about 500 euro. OEM's from the UK would cost about 780 and OEM's from Cyprus about 1300!

I'm giving the Stoptech's a go although they will take time to get here. Will update when i have them. :)

edit: rotors should look like this, they'll be grooved not drilled.

ga4i you will definatly be getting stronger rotors with them being grooved BUT..... im wondering if the stoptech items are fully floating like the stock items ????? they look like solid mounts compared to the stock items. Any information on this?

You're right, i actually hadnt thought of that. Hmm... The picture i linked to says "Photo image is for illustration purposes, actual item may vary slightly in appearance, but not specification."

I'm giving my guy a call to make sure.

He assured me "1000%" that they'll be like the stock items, i.e. floating.

Well we'll see when they come, if they're not to my liking i'll get something else and sell the Stoptechs.

even if they werent i wouldnt sell them, they'll be better than stock anyway!!!
im now running grooved rotors on my AP setup, grooved rotors are much better for the enthusiastic driver.
