looks brilliant but why was it a PITA? I know E89 is not as simple as E85/86 to fit grilles, did replace colleague's E92 to performance one but it wasn't too difficult.
Its the fact you have to take the air duct off to gain access to the void in front of the rad. My E92 bumper was more flexible and the mouts seemed higher up so I could put more force on the clips.

Looks great, took forever to get mine on too. I had to remove the air duct and maneuver my arms to remove mine, it just wasn't possible w/o the right tools if I didn't go that route.
They look sick on yours rfx, I had to use a long hex key to pop some of the clips

Wow loving those 8)
How much are they? any chance of a how too
I nearly bought some for the 1 Series, was just a case of undoing a row of screws along top of bumper and moving the bumper forward so you can get your hand in to undo the retaining clips.
But traded the 1er in for the Z4
Tim.
Tim they were about £70 from my local dealer. I'd stick a how too up but its pretty much a suck it and see exercise. Once you have the air duct off take a look at the replacement grill clip locations and try and manoeuvre your hands into the right position to unclip them from behind. Corner ones are a right pain, but its achievable with a long hex head driver to put a bit of pressure on the clips.
