After 7 years....... A new car

Well, I've gone and done it. After 7 years of my beloved Z4, I have taken on a mistress.

I have today put down a deposit on a new (to me) car. My first Porsche, a Cayman S. I will pick it up next week. Got a really good deal, with a great spec. :D

I am keeping my Z for now, will SORN it and see how I feel about it in the new year. As it was mine from new, and I have done a lot of mods to it, I feel very attached to it, can't face letting it go right now, maybe never will..........

Just depends how long the other half will accept it being sat under cover at the bottom of the drive. :(

I will carry on posting here, even though I am leaving the Z4 family for my daily drive (as long as you lot allow me!) I would miss the banter and comeraderie too much if I disappeared. Need to find an equivalent forum for my new drive, seen a few, none quite as busy as this though.

This isn't a goodbye, just evolution

Congrats on your new purchase..

I think if I was going to move brands this would be the next car for me.

There are some good deals about at the minute.

Anyway, let me be the first to say...

This one? Now that's a tasty motor (providing you can't see the colour from the inside!)

I am excited I have to admit.

I pick it up on Friday. This is the spec:

Cayman S
Metallic Basalt Black
19" Carrera Sport wheels
Sat Nav
Leather Sports Seats
Heated Seats
Extended Sound Package Module
Parking Assist
Cruise Control (Being fitted before I pick it up)
Multi CD Player
iPod connection
2 Yr Porsche Warranty
12 Mths MOT

It is a 2008 model on a 57 plate. The spec was the most important thing to me, as I would rather a fully loaded car than a basic car with little on it perhaps on a newer plate.

I have been used to my 2.2 for 7 years, to say I was blown away by the performance was an understatement. I couldn't even get half way to its limit on my test drive. Sure I will when I am used to it though! :D

I am really excited, sorting out the funds this afternoon and will be driving it home on Friday!

Thanks for your kind comments

I think after 7 years the zed needs to be allowed to retire gracefully .... by that I mean, no more potholes, tramlines, traffic, stop go traffic ... let it get away from all that .........
Turn it into a dedicated track machine ......
Old racers never die..... they just go faster.

 strip and race!

Really really nice bud! Especially in that colour and spec absolutely loaded with kit! plus you got a 2 year warranty its great Porsche offer that as standard always worth it! Had to really press for BMW to give me one on my Z4M.

I was so close to buying a Cayman S instead of the Z4MC but it was just alittle too pricey and the Z made more economic sense at the time!

Hope you really enjoy the car, my dads got a 997 Porsche Carrera S and it is a beast, incredible to drive. Plus its nice to have a Porsche in the garage

You will not be disappointed moving from the 2.2 Z4! Enjoy!
