Aero skirt fitting behind door jams...

Behind the door jams mine are not fitting flush against the body work (its the same on both sides).... i can only see it when i open my doors fully.... Is this right? A BMW approved bodyshop fitted them :roll:

(excuse the smudged up sills.. i was waxing them and hadnt finished wiping them down!)

no thats not right, it should sit flush all the way along :thumbsdown:

PS only takes 5 mins to fit these, crappy job
 
Cool thanks.... I think maybe they are too far back, will remove one side and reposition it, see if that fixes it.

Is that seal on the top meant to be adhesive, or is it just a rubber strip? The bit sticking up doesn't seem sticky.
 
there are clips that hold the skirt on, they are spread along the inside - the sticky rubber strip is a 'weather strip' and is to stop water entering, but obviously not very effective until they fit the skirt properly
 
Do you have any bits of old clips left in the sill? They need removing. It's easy to do.

Once you are certain of that and have the seal correctly clipped on the sill and all clips lined up you will probably need a block of wood covered in cloth and a few taps to locate them fully. Once the clips snap shut you'll know.

Just taken a look in the dark garage.... And I can push them, but they don't click down. They look and feel correctly fitted apart from this though, so maybe when they fitted them they left some old clips there :x both sides are the same.... So I will have to remove one side tomorrow and take a look.

I guess the saying is right... Want a job done right do it yourself!
 
If they push right in to the correct fitting position, i.e. with the weather strip flush, then I doubt you have any old clip parts left fitted.

Just make sure you have a clip per hole, all lined up, then time for the block and mallet. That's how ranski's had to be finished.
 
Thanks.... Looking at the bits I collected there are no clips there.... So maybe I need to give it a knock.
