Hello and thanks for welcoming me. First time ever that I join a forum. I have selected 2 photos of what the car currently looks like, lets hope they upload without any problems.

Hi, your Zed looks really nice and I love the colour of the interior
Unfortunately, as Truth has pointed out your Zed is fitted with standard sills in the photos and not the aero version.
It will be great to see some photos once you have customised it.

Hmmm, they look very good and a nice copy of the aero skirts  I think I’ll investigate those a bit further :D
Now the BMW ones are NLA I won’t be surprised to see a number of custom car designers like Rieger start making skirts in the aero design.

Apologies everyone. I was under the impression that this was the aero kit, as the person told me when I bought the car. My mistake. I should have done research and made sure. Which I have now done... Apologies once again

Hi mate, no problem at all  . I’m always learning something new about these cars :)

I am also searching for the aero side skirts, since I just bought a Z4MC.
I saw the Modelo replica, but they are made of fiberglass (fibre for the UK?), which sounds like headache for painting and fitting.

I have also emailed customer relations, and tweeted to BMW of America; they simply responded back saying the side skirts are no longer available, and I should contact my local dealership for inquiries... which is not being customer friendly at all! :x

If you find a way to replicate a set, perhaps you can set up a groupbuy, I am sure a lot of people are interested, including myself!
However, I am located in California, USA, so shipping from the UK could get expensive.

[ref]TomK[/ref], if you are willing to sell, I am interested too!

Hi fryh1n,
from the photos on the Modelo website their skirts seem quite a good copy of the original aeroskirts and include the cut outs for the jacking points etc, but would possibly need a bit of fettling to achieve a good fit and finish.

I’ve also emailed BMW customer relations in the UK and waiting a reply. I doubt it will achieve much but I just wanted to highlight how ridiculous it is that a prestige car like a Z4 or Z4M can now only be properly maintained via an increasing number of parts needing to be sourced from eBay and car breakers etc because so many parts are becoming NLA.

I contacted a number of BMW dealers in the USA and found Gerald Isaac at BMW Cincinnati very helpful. He’s the parts manager there and told me BMW were considering launching a vintage parts line for the Z4’s. it might be worth contacting him to see if he can help you. Hopefully the more people who contact BMW about NLA parts may make them consider launching some of these parts again.

Still called fibreglass in the UK to, just the r and e the other way round

TBH, I could only really see them being made out of fibreglass, otherwise it would have to be injection moulded which isn't going to happen.

Does anyone know what BMW were charging for these new? Also what a second hand pair would fetch now?

Have a mate who works in manufacturing and has a lot of contacts around asia, so may be possible to find someone to make these but would need to investigate a number of things... not least financial viability.

Hi JamieZ4C, this sounds very interesting... :) The BMW part numbers are 51710150780 & 51710150781 and I think they were selling for about £200 each new. They rarely come up second hand but will probably increase in value like the soft top covers :(
If your mate was able to manufacture these, I’m sure they’d have a queue of people from this forum lining up to buy them

Cool, well it would seem possible to my simple mind but he'll probably tell me it can't be done for some some legal reason... or we'd have to manufacture thousands just to get the unit cost down to what people are willing to pay

Leave it with me
