Aero side skirts?

I know I’ve more chance of finding rocking horse manure :wink: , but I’m looking for a set of aero sills for my Zed. Has anyone got a set they are thinking of selling?


Hi guys,

It's been suggested I compile a list of everyone whose expressed an interest in the aero skirts so far. I know there's other members also interested but haven't expressed it on here yet, but hopefully the current list of names will help convince BMW there's still a genuine demand for their beautiful aero skirts.

I'd also like to pass on my thanks to Jembo & Jay again for all their good work highlighting this to BMW and I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed BMW demonstrate the same love we have for the Z4 and decide to launch another production run...
 
Would these be that difficult to copy and manufacture? I wouldn't have thought so. Group multibuy to make the numbers stack up perhaps?

All you'd need is an original set to use as templates. Well done to Yorkie Z for volunteering :P :lol:

Apparently, BMW have lots of right sills available, so we will only need to borrow Yorkie Z’s left one :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

On a serious note though, I’ve been speaking to a BMW parts manager in America whose heard rumours BMW are going to introduce a Vintage parts inventory for the Z3 & Z4. Apparently, a lot of lines were discontinued due to a lack of demand but they’ve seen a huge increase in part requests over the last year and think it’s viable to launch a new inventory line for them. I’ll let you know if I find out anything more about it :thumbsup:
 
I have an unopened set from BMW in my attic if that's really any help to anyone wanting to make some copies. Bit if a logistical nightmare though :cry:
 
I there I was thinking I paid over the odds in 2013 for a second hand set for £200 with the front aero spoiler...

Yes, not only a logistical nightmare but I wouldn’t know where to begin getting someone to manufacture these for us :( . Thanks for the kind offer though :thumbsup:

I think you should get your sills fitted to the car though as it’s a shame to keep them hidden in a dark attic :)
 
Yes not sure how/who would be able to copy them, but if someone has an idea then let me know. They're boxed up so not such a pain to send and a spare set so I'd have no bother in not having them for a while. (no plans to sell them now I'm afraid given they're nla which is kind of why I bought two sets, thought that might happen)

I’m continuing to make enquiries with various dealers and will certainly let you know if I find anyone who can copy them.
If you ever do decide to sell them though, please bare me in mind :wink:
 
I have an E85 that I am customizing, which includes replacing the aero kit with a riegers kit. So I am definitely selling the aero side skirts. Only problem, I am based in South Africa. I know that its a bit of a logistical problem, but if you really have such difficulty finding it over there, then consider the following. South Africa has become an economic circus, with the pound holding almost 20 times more value than the rand. Therefore, I am quite certain you can purchase mine, and cover the shipping as well, and still get a bargain buy. I do not mind the extra effort of arranging for shipping. If you don't find a better or more convenient solution, consider my offer and let me know...

I’ve seen a couple of Z4’s fitted with the Riegers kit and they do look very good 👍. It will be nice to see some pictures when you’ve finished customising your car.

Your aero skirts certainly sound interesting. I’ve never really considered looking outside the UK but your kind offer of arranging shipping etc certainly makes it something to consider. Have you got any photos of them fitted on your car?
