Aero kit + new springs = lots of pics

Haven't done anything with the Z4 for a while, by my standards. A few weeks ago the aero skirts and bumper went on (sprayed by Imagination Creations), the over the weekend I put in some new springs - Supersports -20mm, the tyres just about seem to clear everything, but slightly concerned for when the new tyres go on - they may be coming off again. This morning I gave the car a quick rinse off. This afternoon I went for a drive and took a few pics along the way...

Finally, four tickets to the gun show...

Wow that looks lovely :) looks far lower that a 20mm drop! Are you still running oem dampers or are they updated too..?

Thanks BlackOut, I took measurements before and after and the drop was about 21mm. The M wheels, which stick out further on the non-M, even at full height these look lower. But on an un-even surface the wheel do seem to disappear. Still running the standard shocks.

It'll have new tyres on soon, that should be telling as to the clearance.

Looks great Pawn!!!

did you fit the springs yourself and are you getting wheel alignment done?

how has your quad exhaust been done? im thinking about doing one myself.

Just had another flick through the shots and the front-on shot looks mean, i'd definitely move over if i saw you heading up behind me lol.

Quick (slightly off-topic question) but what is occupancy sensor transplant as listed in your sig..? I'm still very new to the Z / BMW game so still doing some catching up :D

Rudd, yep, fitted myself - technically was easy, but a slight faff... New springs fitted and Maxum's how to

Quad exhaust is an Eisenmann using a t-pipe. Love it. Makes a noise no 2.5 has a right to make... has received nothing but love from the public at large. The full write up is in my mods sig link. With photos naturally.

playalistic, thanks mate. Not sure on the tyres yet, need to check the fronts... any more than half left and I'll go another round with the Vreds. Otherwise, think I'll go back to the Eagle F1s.

I don't think I'd be heading up behind an M! I thought the same after DaveG was following me round the London meet, a good part of the reason why it's fitted.

Occupancy sensor isn't something you need to worry about - I put in facelift M Sport seats earlier this year. The [passenger] occupancy sensor is different pre and post facelift, so I needed to transfer this across, which I was at it I stripped and recoloured the seats, and removed the bagginess with a hot air gun... all in the link, with photos. The hot air gun was a neat trick, so much so there's a video clip for that one.

I'll be sure to bore you with all the details on an evening run to the pub. Soon I hope.

It looks A-MAZ-ING !!!

... and seriously low to the ground. The arches look pretty full now!

In the first 2 pics it looks dangerously close to the lake... :? ... :poke:

:D

I look forward to being bored  It's good to see someone who wants to mod their car and can do the small bits and pieces that really make a mod good :)
You are right i don't need to worry about the occupancy sensor ;-)

I always say this but I do love those wheels, unfortunately I don't think they would look half as good with Interlagos. But something to consider.

How many times did you check the handbrake as you parked near the lake :o

Looks good Matt, be interesting to see who gets pulled over first you or playalistic with the Pink ///M regarding the plate.

Thanks all for the positive comments

Wondermike, yeah, the wheels did turn out well :) The really impressive thing though is the finish, Lepsons have done an awesome job. They will need to go back at some point, picked up a couple nicks, but hey, it has to be driven!

srhutch, have a slight issue when playalistic and I drive together, asking for trouble (and directions) - I put my plate on the dash. So far I've encountered three police cars, one going the opposite way, with a slightly incredulous look on the PC in the passenger's seat. Thankfully I have an innocent face :P

Reference the "lake"... it's the Thames, a little way down the road from Henley, toward Marlow, nice spot. I was parked on a slipway, in the end I had to leave to let someone into the river. Looking at the photos again it did appear slightly more precarious than it was... I took a shot from the side that didn't quite work how I wanted...

Thankfully the Z4 has the world's best handbrake. Oh, it doesn't... it's crap...
