Aero bumper in place! :)

Hi guys,

Just wanted to share with you two pics of my new aero bumper. Very pleased with it! Gives the car a totally different look. Not great pics as I need to give it a good wash now.

My only query, where I hope you guys can help me, is what am I to do to attach the number plate. The black part that was fitted on the standard bumper to hold the plate does not fit this one. Any ideas on how to tackle this? Does BMW have an alternative part to that?

Would not like to start drilling and then regret it!

I really like the aero bumper so it's a thumbs up from me. Your bottom pic looks as if the bonnet to bumper gap could do with a tweak though?
 
Nice!

The numberplate holders are different for different countries and bumper revisions.

I'd get the part number from your local dealer... Or just heat the plate to bend it and stick it to the bumper.

Looks good - I am with aquazi, heat, bend, stick with 3M number plate tape. It will look nice and clean, just make sure it is centred :D

One question - to adjust the gap at the top, can you simply loosen the torque screws and slide the bumper back slightly ? Is it a fitting that allows some movement ? I have this problem, but also need new clips for the side...

Yes. I had to play around for ages with mine after changing the headlights but there's a fair bit of movement along the top edge.
 
Looks good, I've always liked the Aero kit :thumbsup:

Bumper adjustment can be a pain, it took me a couple of times to get it right
 
Get the number plate holder.

I had the plate just on the bumper and it didnt look right, just looks non standard.
Plus, the aero front is a bit 'bottom lippy' but with the plate holder on it means the bottom appears not to stick out as much and lessens the effect.

I'll have a go at the weekend, and order me some new clips for the sides from my local stealer...
 
Thx for the nice comments guys and for the number plate ideas. I am guessing for most of you getting a smaller number plate and sticking it on the side is out of the question, or not? Saw some pics of people who did that.

With regards to the gap, I agree with you guys. I will have to play around a bit, and if it's not my area of competence I will go back to the guy who installed it for me. Good at fixing computers but not great at being a car mechanic! :-|
