Just been offered this for £1,800 and although breaking is not my bag it seems like a great deal - car has done 160k with a bit of rust on the panels but I'm thinking the 107's, body kit and seats are going to be worth more than £2k.

What do you reckon?

As you say, you'd make most of that back in the body kit and wheels. It'll be a challenge thereon though and depends on your appetite to dismantle and wait for buyers of random bits & pieces that aren't particularly high value.
 
Lights are still desired and they look in good shape, plus the other panels look straight. I doubt the interior trim is in good nick as the metal is usually chipped and scratched but I'm on the lookout.
 
You will at the very least recoup your outlay.
While doing cars up I have been taken aback at the prices some smaller parts go for.
You will probably find an initial rush for big bits, then all the small stuff goes into cupboards etc and makes more dosh over the next few months.
Barry (Umfaan) and now Stuart (bigwinn) wouldn't do it if there was no profit.
Little things to remember, do your research on stuff.
Barry won't mind me saying that he nearly sent me a drivers door handle with the barrel still in it until I pointed out that putting it together with the ignition barrel, boot lock and GM5 module would be a better option.
Those rear lights with the matching white centres would go well as a set.

PS. I think Dr Zed is already looking for a decent 5-speed knob.

Seems like great deal doesn’t it, but don’t rush into breaking a car. You’ve got to deal with a lot of people, a lot of questions, a lot of packing and posting and ebay fees that eat into your profit, then you’re left with a carcass on your drive with no wheels. :cry:

Also, make sure you understand the condition of the car or you may find you don’t have many salvageable bits.
 
If it was me, I would buy the car, swap the desirable bits (aeros, wheels etc) for less desirable bits bought cheap on ebay, change any rusty panels that you can find and then sell the car as a doer-upper for £1,500. With it being silver there will be no shortage of replacement parts...

I've discussed this with bigwinn.
We both agree that in different circumstances (room on the drive and slightly less feisty better halves :roll: ) we would have grabbed this straight away.
Put it back to standard and sell on the aero kit and you basically have a free car!

I can tell you it wasn't me but 2 members did approach me directly to request a stab at it - by the time I had replied it had already gone.
 
I agree that it’s a travesty to break the entire car for parts when you could just sell the aero bits and replace them with standard parts, and then either keep the car or sell it intact.

Heck I’m in North America and I’d almost buy it to save it from the junkyard.
