I'm on the hunt for a z4 as christmas prezzy to myself.

I've found this on autotrader, it's a bit over my budget and i was after a 2.5si or a 3.0si. But the colour combo/seats on this one is awesome.

My question to you good people on her is:

1. Is it over priced for what it is

2. Can i haggle with the dealer

3. What would be a good price to pay

4. Are there any pluses from buying from a dealer/trade

5. Should i just wait a bit longer for something better to come along

Let me know what you think ladies and gents

Pluses from buying from a dealer: You don't have to do an HPI check but do make sure you read their one and understand it.It will come with a warranty of sorts;hopefully it's not a Horizon warranty(once you're over the horizon,it's out of warranty :D ).You can haggle as they will have a margin in it.You can p/ex if you have to.You do have certain legal rights which you don't have with a private sale.Good luck

looks pretty good.as for haggling never does any harm to try
one question might seem a bit stupid what is the button on the left. I thought the sport button was on the right of the shift

Thanks guys for the advice.

@theblues - I have no idea about the sports button. My mate has an alpina and that doesn't have a sports button, might have to check later when i drive it.

Looks like i'll be booking an appoint to go have a look at it and give it a test drive. I'm hoping a deal can be done as i live in london and it is a bit of a mission to manchester.

Looks decent value to me,
One thing, nearside rear Bumper, is that a dent or just a reflection, Looks like a dent to me. :?

ALWAYS HAGGLE,
when I bought mine I walked away when they refused to budge, the salesman ran after me, dropped £200 off, I laughed and walked away again, I eventually got £900 off.
Scrutinise the car, state of the leather, Kerbed wheels, body swirling / scratches, Take a torch and check the rear springs, they are infamous for snapping. pick up everything you can, it's all good ammo for haggling.

Good luck

the sport button is only on the si's.

That it the airbag off light... Standard after 57ish, or optional on earlier cars.

The interior is gorgeous... But imo the 2.5si is a much better car, for very little more the performance is noticeably better.

Also, the wheels are 108 split rims, also infamous for corrosion, have a real close look at them, remember a refurb is not cheap.

When I was looking for mine in the summer, I could have had two different 2.5sis for £9k, both immaculate and both with 25k miles. One of them had sat nav and a hard top. Both private sales.

Ended up paying a little more for mine (private sale, again) as I wanted heated seats, and mine had even lower mileage and many more extras.

My advice is take your time for the right car to come up and be prepared to travel a little. And don't be put off by buying privately. What micz-4 says is true, but anything other than a BMW dealer does not add much value in my view, but does add cost.

How about these...

Cheers guys, awesome advice by the way.

I'd much rather have an si to be honest but that navy blue and tan leather seats is gorgeous. I've got 2 others i'm keeping an eye on.

This one on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261127706254?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

And this one on gumtree:- http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201232481266078/sort/default/usedcars/colour/blue/model/z4/make/bmw/onesearchad/used/postcode/en20tx/radius/1500/page/3?logcode=p

To be honest i don't want to over stretch my budget, ideally i'm looking at max £8.5k but that would have to be for a 3.0si :D

That second one has been up for a least 8 wks so you could push for a quick cash deal on that. I almost went to look at that!

I looked at 2 Z's in dealers both 2003 cars both 2.5 si's 1 was £6995 and the other was £6495, they weren't in brilliant nick, 1 had kerbed wheels and a few scratches & the other had odd panel gaps on the front end like the bonnet & bumper had been replaced badly. I eventually went private on an 03 2.5 roadster with low mileage and ended up paying less than 6k, service history, 4 new tyres 2 months ago all it needed was inspection 2 which I've had done. So far apart from the wiper issue which I fixed I've had no problems.
