Advice with sale of Z4

Hi guys,

Some of you might remember this car, and I’m here to ask your advice once more, how much do you think I can get for a exceptional low millage 2005 E85 with 39k with a condition as near perfect inside, with paint work in excellent condition too, soft top has zero marks and not faded, 1 owner from new, always been covered up or in a garage. Never been on track days, never been in a accident, a non smoker…..this car is really one of a kind as a 2005 2L E85 and I will be VERY sorry to see her go, below is list of mods and photos and I may post on here to sell first, thanks.

Interior:
///M MFSW, gear knob and hand break all with tri colour stitching leather.
Red soft Napa leather diamond stitched seats and door cards.
Metal pedals.
6 CD changer.
Cup holders.
Heated seats.
Illuminated door kicks.

Performance:
K&N air filter
Sprint throttle boost
Red air scoop behind the kidney grill
Remapped
D2 Red BBK 6 pot front and 4 pot rear with 300mm drilled and grooves discs.
D2 coil overs.
BMW 313 19” reps with Michelin pilot super sports.

Exterior:
M front bumper and bonnet.
Face lift head lights with customer LED angel eyes and face lift rear lights and side indicators.
Red soft top.
Reiger rear diffuser with parking sensors ( not wired into car tho ).
Stainless steel quad exhaust with race cat.
Matt black front grills.
Stubby aerial.
Aero side skirts
LED rear number plate lights, boot, cabin, side lights.

Difficult one to price.

Low mileage, low owner excellent condition all all plus points. The engine size not so.

Mods,while no doubt costly, will not be to everyones taste. Maybe start around £4k.

I would remove the aero sills as they are worth a bit on their own. In fact I'd be interested in buying them if you would consider splitting them.

If you do decide the separate the sills I'd take second refusal I also have Titanium Silver sills to replace them with

If possible I'd return it to standard, or as much as you can and make money from the mods. It's a nice car no doubt, but as always mods are always a loss when on the car.

Yeah was thinking that’s a difficult one

First off- cracking car and if the right buyer is out there I can imagine a decent price. Also there’s a whole range of bits on it that could probably mean more sold separately.

I’d struggle to put a price on it as sold though. Regardless though good luck with sale if you do decide to sell!

Seen same model, engine size and millage for 6500-7k on auto trader so was thinking based on that I could get more, but I realise that moss on a car don’t do much, thanks for reply’s so far.

Buyers market with the number of 2.0l cars out there and its not the most popular model, whats in your favour is the low mileage and interior condition, its a peach judging by the photos. You might get someone willing to pay a premium for all the mods on the car. I would expect to see a car like this put up for £5k at least, buyers will of course try to offer you less. No doubt others will be along with their views.

I'm with all the other comments too.
The reputation, deserved or otherwise, of the 4-pot will reflect on it's value I suspect.
I actually quite like the mods done to it, but as intimated by others, it does not equal the sum of its parts.
I'd think maybe start around £4-4.5k as it stands and if no interest then possibly look to put it back to standard and sell the parts separately.

What I do like about this forum is, there has been ample opportunity for someone to make you an offer, then reverse all the mods, sell it on and make a tidy profit, but no-one (yet) has even considered anything other than helping you out.

This is what I’ve just seen on Auto trader, and has more millage and no visible mods, it’s at £7495, plus another as at £6500 and again same bit more millage and no visible mods.

I wonder if those cars are actually selling though, I feel they might be fanciful pricing.
Parkers has the value range of £1,895 - £5,860, Webuyanycar would probably give ~£2,500 maybe £3k and they're giving strong money currently in most cases.
Mileage on older cars as well doesn't concern people as much, if there is a saving of more then 50% of the cars value to be had most would opt for the cheaper car and hope for the best (and some would still have some form of trade warranty), that and bigger engines can be had way cheaper as well.

It is a nice car, no doubt, looks tidy indeed but because it's the 2 litre prices as yet are not that strong and for nearing £8k you can get into some strong cars with stronger residuals.

Saying this I ain't some market expert, I cycle my cars regularly and keep my eye on prices. I'd say between £4-5k would get it sold.

I feel you could part the car/swap bits for similar coloured items, end up with a complete car that you could more easily sell for £3-4K and make money off the bits.
I'd gladly swap my Titanium silver bumper and skirts with money your way etc...

I don't think the modifications are going to add significantly to the car's value.

Are the selling prices you've found private or dealer sales? Dealer values will be higher because they usually offer a warranty and
will be governed by the sale of goods act. Private sale prices will be a bit lower.

Looks really nice and great mileage but as others have said, it's a 2 litre so that will affect the price.
I would sell the modifications separately and start the car at around six grand

I think you're answering your own question. If you think it will fetch that much then advertise it at that level. But remember that just because a car is advertised at a certain price, doesn't mean it will sell at that price point. I think there's a lot of unsold cars on Autotrader.
Your car is very nice and probably unique but, as the above comments indicate, anyone who knows much about Z4s is not so likely to buy a 2.0; from personal experience with a low mileage 2.0 I wouldn't get another. Also, if they don't know too much about Z4s then they won't appreciate the value of the extras and mods...
Advertise it, see what happens. If it sells at your asking price, then happy days! If it doesn't, then follow the above advice and strip back to as standard as possible and make money from the bits, especially the aero kit and M bonnet. Or didn't you keep the original stuff?

Not quite - I think you left the forum in early 2018 so only 3 1/2 years :lol:

If you want to realise the most from your car sell the mods first - you won't get back what you paid for them but you'll get more overall.

e.g. swap your seats/doorcards for someone else's + cash, same with the bonnet, aeros, BBK etc. then sell the car.
It'll take longer but you'll end up with more.

…just remember whatever you do, those aero parts are like Unicorn tears and worth at least £1k.
