Advice / Views - Spoiler & Headrest Hoops

I guess when I take it to the garage, they will spray the spoiler white (all over first) before even attempting the black bit design?

Therefore, get that done, take a look at it and go from there - whatever colour it ends up, it will then be a BIG decision to stick it on!

Not sure why it matters that it's 'really rare'? It's just a white Z4 regardless of what accessories you add, and you've made them all reversible so you can switch back to OEM at any time (although as Mr Wilks pointed out, the spoiler is OEM so it's not like you've gone for something that wasn't available from the factory).
Not putting down your Zed in any way (it looks lovely) but I don't think rarity is a factor when determining whether to do/fit these mods?
I think mine may be the only 2.5Si from the UK in the country, but it's still just a 2.5Si.... I hope you understand what I'm trying to say? (I seldom do  )

Good point well made fella and you are probably right. Whilst owning any vehicle (whether rare or not), you should make it look how 'you want it to look' whilst under your ownership. The beauty as you say is I am keeping OEM parts back in the loft so should I wake up one day and the car is worth 'silly money' in 10 to 15 years time, I can make it look like it did in 2004!

I wanted the Sonar Headlights, I want piano black head rest hoops, it's the bloody damn spoiler that I can't make my mind up about!

I will get it painted and report back folks - thanks for all your input to date. It's great to share opinions, thoughts and design!

5 options:-

1) Paint it all white
2) Paint it all black
3) Paint it white, with full black strip
4) Paint it white, with central black strip
5) Leave the spoiler in the shed!

I like the black stripe over the full length. Is that option 4?

Option 3 mate - one of my close friends went with that also. Great that we have so many opinions on designing mods!

I think all white the lines get lost in a sea of white.
A small centre black line makes it look tall.
The full black line highlights the full curves.

Have you made a decision yet?

The garage are going to paint it white initially. We will then lightly stick it down with some pads and see if I like the look,

If that's a yes, I will probably ask them to spray the centre black - ie - option 4!

I like option 3 - the stripe that runs the length of the spoiler

Quite a few friends etc have opted for that option (3). I can see why. It's slightly awkward picking any of them as the images shown are "double exhausts, have different back lights, maybe different wheels and they all look good" - this spoiler thing is so marmite but at this time I am going to make a decision and go 'white with black central paint design' - if it looks hideous (imo), I will not let the garage get the glue out!

I think the biggest difference will not be what sort of pinstripe or otherwise you have on the spoiler but a set of clear spot rear lights.

Following on from Scooba_Steve, and as you have already pointed out earlier, the pictured cars have subtle tweaks that possibly enhance the pinstripe spoiler so its not a great comparison to how yours will look. The featured car does look good with the full stripe from that angle.

I like the look of the black central design but lets be honest the cars are completely different animals. In comparison against my motor? Will it really look like that? The answer is prob no!

Different lights, 3rd brake light, bumper, exhausts etc etc etc,

Toughy!

The image taken of the 'unknown car' has been taken at ground level so it is really hard to gauge the overall look, although it looks pretty impressive!- not sure I will get that 'wow' but time will tell!

A few months have passed since I became 'confused dot com' and the rear spoiler is still sat in the local garage (waiting for me to decide on colour or even to bother),

The headrests were sprayed piano black in Mid February - that was an easy decision!

It's a bit annoying because i love to tinker with my previous cars and add bits and bobs.....but i have to say that the vast majority of additions to a Z4 i've seen just make them look worse. Couple that with the fact that things like remapping are a waste of time (certainly on my 3.0i) and there's really nothing i would actually change or do to my car.

Obviously this is entirely subjective, others will (and do) disagree....but styling wise i think BMW got it right the first time round.

Just my 2p :)
