Hey Guys,
Apologies if this has been covered within another thread/post, but as the subject title suggest, any help or advice is appreciated.
A couple of days ago a strange deepish sound started occurring between 2500 and 3500 rpm when you're accelerating steadily or going up an incline with a little gas, the noise itself doesn't appear all the time and has only made itself apparent a few times over the past couple of days, furthermore, I have noticed that the noise happens in multiple gears and only when the engine is at optimum temperature.
If my hearing isn't failing me, the sound seems to be coming for from either underneath the cabin or closer to the engine bay.
I have also asked a friend for help who seems to believe it may be gearbox or exhaust related, would this be correct, or could it be something else?
The vehicle itself is a BMW Z4 Coupe from 2006 and currently stand at 95,000 miles if this information helps narrow down the cause.
I will try and answer any questions the best I possibly can - I'm no mechanic
Thanks for your help in advance,
Jack
