Advice regarding gearbox issue

Had my coupe serviced today, no issues with the service however they did investigate a whirring/ bearing noise which I have been moaning about for the past 6 months.

Thier technician confirmed that the noise was coming from the gearbox, he also reported that there was an oil leak coming from the gearbox bell housing area and that investigation was needed.

I've booked the car in as I have a MOndial fully comp warranty, however I immediately got nervours when the service department stated that the oil leak may not be covered as seals are not covered.

I have checked the policy wording and the fully comp cover covers everything except a defined list of items. One of these exceptions is weather strips and seals.

I have argued the point to both the dealership and Mondial that a gearbox gasket is not the same as a weather strip/ seal and said if that was the case then the head gasket would also not be covered. I then pointed out that for the lesser cover head gaskets are covered, I also note that for the lesser cover it does state rectification of oil leaks and replacement gaskets will not be covered. However it does not state this for fully comp.

Anyway, bottom line is they will investigate the leak and the noise and let me know if it is covered.

Why do I feel a battle coming on here? am I in the right or in the wrong? The other concern I have is that if the gearbox noise is attributed to low oil and they blame the oil leak I could be left with no cover on the issue at all! not happy considering I pay £40 a month for this fully comp cover.

Anyone had any experience on this sort of thing?

Kind regards

When you find out the issue (because at this point you don't know and are worrying about something you don't know) then contact the warranty line and talk it over with them to get to the bottom of it. No point worrying before its happened.
