Hi .complete newbie here. I've just purchased.( collect this Thursday) a 56 plate facelift 2.0 se. 107k miles. Good history. Drives lovely actually feels nippy for a 150 hp car.what do I need to look at.? The roof motor been sorted and relocated! . Has 18" 108 wheels which need a refurb. ? Not sure what's best .polish the rims or spray whole thing. ( rims have been sprayed before) .I live in Hampshire. Some tips on where to go would be great! Worst thing is it has rust bubbles on all arches? Is this common. Also I'd like to get back box delete and twin pipes fitted! Wheres a good place for this.! I know its just the slightly boring 2.0.. I would of loved a 3.0 .but I had a strict budget. And paid £2800 for this one. That sound reasonable?? A bit late now though.lol. tia Barry. 😀

Hi Barry,

Be good to see some pics when you collect car.

RBM in Hook is the place to go for mechanicals - Ross is on here as Bowser and a former BMW master tech

Ross may also help with wheels and bodywork, I am sure he can recommend someone.

Thnx mate. I'll look him up. Super excited! I knew I'd get one someday! Hope its gonna be reliable. As I'm no mechanic. Lol. I'll spend a fortune you watch. 😀

Hi and welcome to the forum. Which part of Hampshire are you? My neighbour recently got his 108s refurbed in Farnham and was very happy with them. There’s also a good place in Basingstoke. Both will set you back around £100 a corner. The outers are relatively easy to do DIY, if you can split the rims, but the centres are hard work.

Rust on the wheel arches isn’t common, in fact the bodywork on Z4s seems to be pretty hardy. You need to get that sorted.

Hi and welcome to the forum Barry.

Ross has done quite a few jobs on my Z4 and 3 Series since he opened up on his own in October 2019. Here's a link to his business:- https://www.rbmhampshire.co.uk/

He recommended these guys in Basingstoke for wheel refurbs:- https://myalloys.co.uk/
They did a great job on my set of 224s for £60 + VAT per wheel. Stripped, tidied up and powder coated including re-fitting tyres, but 108s need to be split for a proper job so would cost a bit more.

Rust on all the arches is unusual, but as all the wings are bolted on I believe swapping them isn't too involved.

Drive home the long way on Thursday!
