Advice on Z4 3.0 Prices

Now you are worrying me as that is about 2 miles from me ... :o It is also the place where I take customers for lunch. Quick blast past Worth school is my normal trip there.

What regular drives are those?

Every two months - 3rd Sunday of the month the local group of the IAM (East Surrey) get together for some 'fun'. We alternate between that pub and the Grasshopper over in Westerham so we drive out every month.

I've only ever had a drink in the pub though, heard the food is good?
:D

Its probably the worst time to sell you Z, can you wait until summer?

Cars sell for more in the southwest! You need to add about 2-3k to a 10k car. Its stupid but always the same!

Bloody ell, I won't be buying a car in the southwest just to drive back 200 miles and lose 25% of the value :tumbleweed:

I think I'll travel to Scotland and get one 25% cheaper, and ADD value when I drive back to Yorkshire ;)

Looking on various websites, I'm not so sure it's as clear cut as it used to be.

If it sells, it's at the right price, if not, it's not.

Thats about all I can say... but with so much stuff coming into market cheaper because traders are offering less for part-ex and also private sellers are willing to take less, and auctions selling them for less, there is a fairly distorted market. Then there is demand ontop, demand has actually probably risen due to the lower prices, for now.

Who knows what will happen. As with all car things, if you need rid, sell, if not, keep. The price is dictated by the market, so just see what sells and go on that :D

I know of two bargains that have gone recently, and both were about the same as you have yours up for now... but slightly better spec and lower miles. I think yours is spot on for the market right now and it should go quickly :)

I just traded in my 3.0i and got £10.5k for it... I was also offered £11k when I looked at buying a different car. It's a 2004 auto with 22.5k miles and almost all the options apart from satnav and Carver (heated sports seats, bluetooth, xenon, cd changer, MF m-sports steering wheel, cruise control, 18" 108s and of course, the all important cup-holders).

It's now been put up for sale by the dealer (independent, not BMW main) for £11k... Pretty tight margins...

There aint no margin in that.....they'll be making a loss on that car after taking all of the dealers various costs into account! Be interesting to know how much they made on the car they sold you!

Shows the current car market is pretty much at a stand still with very little demand and too much supply.

I know someone that bought an '08 Range Rover vogue, top spec (dealer car so v low mileage) before Christmas for almost £38,000 off list price!! :o

I'm sure it varies by manufacturer and dealer and if they own the cars or not and their own financial reserves, but at present I'm sure more of them are focussed on getting what they can for anything on the forecourt to improve cashflow, pay ongoing costs and in extreme cases stave off bankruptcy.

I would have thought for the weaker dealers and franchises any old business model based upon margins is out of the window for now.

On the website the Vogue starts from £62,599! The one he bought was a high spec version. He also has a Merc SLK AMG he bought for a steal!!

Nah, didn't work like that for me! I travelled down FROM Scotland to Hartlepool to nab a Z4 from you Yorkshire folk :D

(Hartlepool's Yorkshire, right?)

As an update...

I put my car on the boards here and its on Pistonheads and Autotrader at £10,350 and I have had some interest... I have a guy coming to look tonight who lives in the same estate as me, one tomorrow and one or two on Saturday. So I hope it will go quite quickly... looking at Autotrader I think its well priced to sell but who can tell in this market!

Cheers for all the input guys!

Ben
