Advice on Z4 3.0 Prices

Hi,

Just looking for a bit of advice on selling my Z4 as the market seems all over the place at the moment!

I have the following car:

Z4 3.0 (53) 2004 - 46,000 miles - Black with black leather, 108 style 18" Alloy Wheels, Carver Hi-Fi System Sound Pack, 6 disc CD Changer, Electric Memory Seats, Automatic Lights and wipers, Auto dimming rear view mirror, Light washers, Heated Mirrors, Xenon's, Wind deflector, Full service history, 10 months MOT and Tax. Both rear springs recently replaced.

The car really is in great condition, but the two rear alloys are suffering from the dredded corrosion!

Anyone have any thoughts on what I should be asking for it?

Cheers

Ben

According to an average of Autotrader prices - put it up for £10k and expect to get £9k+.

Parkers gives a figure of good private £9400 (unadjusted for options and assuming manual)

Given yours has lots of extras it may sell better than base, but buyers are also expecting unrealistically low prices to counter their low sale price and in search of a bargain so the figure sounds good to me.

End of the day though it's about how quick you need to sell and if it's just the spec someone happens to want.

I'd get the 2 alloys fixed up so they are a feature not a haggling down point, unless you plan to simply P/ex.

:( wow... scarey times on used car prices!! Paid over £16k for it just over a year ago!

I paid £26k for my Z4MC about 6 weeks ago, but I bet I'd only get £23k in a private sale for it. So your £6k in 12 months compared to my £3k in 6 weeks doesn't seem as bad :D

Luckily for me, this is a long-termer and I've budgeted so that even without work for a long period I can still afford to keep this even if I have to sell the M5 - and that's already reached the end of the depreciation curve.

My M depreciated more then 16K in a year so you have driven cheaply :D

Thats if I get £10k!

I'm not in a situation where I need to sell tomorrow... I have a couple of months but if I'm honest I would prefer to sell the car sooner rather than later!

Talking of prices, I see that the 3.0si and the M coupes are not far off the same price second hand from some dealers! Do a national search on the BMW site! :o

I noticed this when I was looking to buy, got myself a 3.0si now! But yeah both priced about the same! Problem is the M is pricey to run compared so the 3.0si was the one for me!!!

Where are you located in the UK if you don't mind me asking?

I'm after a Z4 for around the kind prices being mentioned on this thread.

PS, not fussed on rear wheel corrosion, would prefer a cheaper car and corroded alloys, than you fix them and then just add that to the price (I can get them reconned in a year after they get worse :D )

Thanks

Dave

Dave,

I am in the South East near Gatwick. Looks like you may be quite a long way away!!

But it's a good car and I have looked after it so I believe it will be a good buy. I have had both rear springs replaced in the last 6 months and the drivers side window regulator was replaced recently too.

All tyres are in good condition.

Pictrues are here... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/largepic.asp?i=839588&noPics=9&imgsrv=1&current=1&make=BMW&model=z4

Went from Edinburgh to London a few years back to pick my 330i m sport and Sheffield last month to get my Z4 - one day's effort for a car you will love and may have for sometime is worth it!

Aha, I've been having a look at that one and was considering a 'how much to retrofit myself, heated seats' thread :D

I think you have priced it well because if you do want it sold sooner than later that is the kind of price that will have me reaching for my wallet at the moment knowing what cars are selling at the moment (ie, cheaper ones)...

A long way off, but I'm considering a trip to Edinburgh if the car is still there when I'm ready to buy.

Just need to ask at work when our reviews will be as it will make a bit of difference to how much I spend

Maybe I am slightly confused but the car is near gatwick, not Edinburgh! :)

Maybe he is flying down :)

Near Gatwick ... hmm, sounds strangely familiar. Where exactly?

Haha, oops, sorry, I'm thinking of all the well priced Z4's I've spotted, which are all at polar opposite ends of the UK to me :)

You would have thought been in the middle would make everything close, but it's almost like a decreasing density of Z4's for sale as you approach Yorkshire (tight buggers  )

/goes off to find out how much the heated seats retrofit kit is :)
