Advice on wheels fitting needed on E89

Thinking of upgrading my boring looking 292 wheels to something 19"

Like the look of these:
http://www.bmautosport.co.uk/showroom/product_info.php/new-avant-garde-m355-five-spoke-alloys-gunmetalpol-with-gunmetal-inserts-deeper-concave-rear-p-5290?cPath=51_27_194_198_294

However slightly concerned that these are 9" front and 10" rear, an inch wider than BMW wheels such as 326s.
Compared to 292s, for the fronts: inner clearance is 19mm less and outer position extends 7mm; and for the rear: inner clearance is 17mm less and outer position extends 21mm.

I think I have calculated this right, but is 17-19mm less clearance significant? Would rears stick out too much?

Would these be a better option?:

Front: 6mm inwards; Rear: 7mm outwards
http://www.cmwheels.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=60_91_92_302&product_id=94
Front: 5mm inwards; Rear: 3mm outwards

Would love the forum's advice many thanks!

From my own perspective i wouldn't want 9j fronts on any Z that you planned to drive rather than show , 8.5s max for me but thats not to say you can't or they won't fit
What colour car is your E89 as this can have a bearing on what will or won't suit imo

I was hoping you would respond Mr Wilks.

My car is deep sea blue 30i 2010.

The reason for 9" being ridiculous for fronts is how it handles I assume?

Its probably less of a issue with 89s than 85s/86s but you have to figure a 245 or 255 front tyre is what you would need
DSB paint ? Again its personal choice but i would avoid any wheel with grey or black inners :?
The 313 style you highlight above forum member A1GSS has on his E89 ( grey car though )

A lot depends if you want to look OEM & blend or go for something a little more eyecatching ?

Id be giving these sets serious consideration if i was looking to shoe up my own DSB 89

Thanks for giving me some examples, I actually quite like ther 3rd one http://www.bmautosport.co.uk/showroom/product_info.php/new-veemann-fs28-alloys-silver-pol-with-wider-rears-p-5462?cPath=51_27_194_198_294
I just wonder if it might bee too much and too boy-racerish?

I agree with avoiding darker alloys, I think polished silver would suit deep sea blue colour best.

I was originally opting to go down 326 route, but it is quite hard to come by as a set and price new is £2200 which is crazy money.

Having said that, I just noticed Wrs's thread on wheels advice and sent him a quick pm to see if he's considering selling his current set of 326.

Those Veeman 19s are stunners & top quality at a more than fair price , i also think they would finish a DSB 89 off in fine style & would have no hesitation if you like them , also mention the forum on ordering & you should get free P&P

Just had a read through A1GSS's thread and the photos look nice especially that stock look.
Do you think it may be too dark for DSB?

I live in Eastbourne and conveniently close to BM Auto Sport, so will try to arrange a visit this Saturday and take a look at these Veemans!

The 313 style have grey backs which imo works with A1GSS grey car & was one of the reasons why i bought them for my current grey E85
My personal thoughts are that they would look underwhelming on a DSB car :?
The Veemans are a class act & if compared directly with a 326 OEM factory wheel you would probably think the Vees are a better quality wheel :o

These are the same 313s you are looking at & you can see the backs are very grey , i wouldn't put them on a DSB car

Thanks for the picture, yeah does seem quite grey at that angle.
So I think Veemans are a go.

Calculated some offsets against current 292s:
Front inner -12mm, outer same.
Rear (et33) inner -6mm, outer +20mm
Rear (et45) inner -18mm, outer +8mm.

Would these require spacers on the fronts and et45 rears?
And in terms of tyres would you recommend front 235 40 19 and rear 265 35 19?

I would go for the et35 F with et45 R / good stance without going silly
Se spec springs 3.0i ?
Tyres i would go 255 35 / 265 35 R / 235 40 or possibly 235 35 if Msport pr lowered ?
If going with new rubber Ieof full tread 8mm ( or 9mm with Uni Rainsports :o ) the difference of a few mm from a tyre thats on 5/6mm can be the difference for a very slight rub but only when tramming on a bit over undulating ground so suspension on full compression

Sorry for my ignorance, what's se spec?
It's non-M 30i with adaptive suspension thing, not lowered

I am planning on getting new rubber and incidentally aiming for Uniroyal rainsport 3s, so if rubbing is an issue maybe downsize to 35 front and 30 rear?

No if you are non Msport that would be Se so sits slightly higher therefore a little more room around the tyre
As you can see off my pics with E89 on Se suspension a front 235 40 19 tyre on a 8.5j is fine
The rears are 255 35 19 on 9.5j but 265 35 will easily fit the arch & rim

Bowland%20trial%20015_zpsduemxbg3.jpg

ok yeah looks like 40 front and 35 rear are filling the arch well.
I will go have a look at the Veemanns on Saturday and update on how I get on, and will post some before / after pics on the thread if I decide to go for them.
Many thanks for your help Mr Wilks.

Quick update.
Went to see the wheels, really liked the look on the car.
Ordered them along with vredestein ultras vortis.
Went for 235/35 front and 265/35 rear.
Should be fitted either Friday or Monday, will post pics once on the car!

thanks mr wilks, as I said will upload more pics once it's on the car.
also gonna try change to LCI side repeaters to bling it up a bit more

Ok, so had a call from BM Autosport yesterday that my tyres have arrived, so popped down this afternoon to get it all fitted.
In the meantime I also received the LCI side repeaters so fitted these as well.

So here goes, hope the pictures come out ok this time

Before

After

The ride is remarkably comfortable, I think it looks great too.
Once again thanks mr wilks for your wisdom and advice.
Let me know what you guys think!
