Advice on selling

Hi guys,

Unfortunately it's time for me to part with the z4, increased milage and I need to be able to tow means I'll be looking for a boring cheap saloon. Other then the obvious prep and good pics for the advert what else helps selling the car?

Mine is a 2003 53 2.5i se. Sterling grey 91000 miles. Will have new rear tyres and inspection II And new brake fluid
done in the next week, new rear brake pads fitted last month. Has the clear indicators / brake light upgrade and top hifi system. Wheels refurbished last year. Oh and stubby ariel too lol.

Going on what's on sale £6500 seems a good starting price to me, so room to negotiate. I also have a hard top and stand but I'll sell those separate.

Any other suggestions? Once I've cleaned and prepped it for sale should be advertised in a week or 2, where best to advertise? I was thinking here, piston heads, auto trader and maybe eBay to start with.

I'll be sad to see her go but maybe one day I'll return in a M, here's hoping :thumbsup:
 
My experience of selling:

- Autotrader - waste of time and money, not a call or anything.
- Pistonheads - sold within hours, no cost and had loads of interest.
- eBay - never tried that, but know Kryton had success with that.
 
Cheers for that pvr, I've only sold once on auto trader, but as the car was priced right and looked super clean it went in a day, so £40 well spent. I may hold of on at then if I don't get response elsewhere first.
 
I've always sold quickly on autotrader, last one being same day, unseen on the phone, at full dealer retail price for a private sale! I suggest doing a search on similar age/mileage examples within say 50, or 100 miles to judge the sort of price you will need to set to get interest. It's also best to price just under the search thresholds that users can set e.g. £6995.

I've not tried Pistonheads but bought my Zed from there so it clearly worked and is probably a good bet for specialist motors providing your price is right and it's sorted (I think yours sounds cheap for a summer sale but the market is dull I suppose). Good luck
 
I would recommed Pistonheads as well, sold my old slightly modded TT on their for a good price pretty quickly

Thanks guys, sounds like I'm on the right track. Price wise I thought I was in the right ball park due to mileage. I think with summer round the corner it will help sell it quicker rather than getting a better price. Looks like I'll be making a trip to the dvla to get my plate on retention.

sold my Defender on Piston Heads,didn't bother advertising it elsewhere .....best sale I've ever made ,great ,knowledgeable buyer ,electronic money transfer ....and no cost to advertise
