Hi all

I have my Maldives blue zed booked in for a custom leather install at the end of the month. Opted for a blue and black combo with blue stitching. See pic below....apologies for the bad photoshop (ignore the red tinges  ), but it gives an approximation of the look.

Now, i have a dilema with the back cover of the seats....Do i keep the back cover black or get that covered in blue as well, unfortunately my photoshop skills are limited and i cant get the back of the seats in the blue without it looking like a 3 year olds done it in crayon...

So over to you guys, what are you opinions on the colour for the back of the seats? and is there a photoshop guru out there with a bit of spare time who could get the back of the seats blue?

Thanks all.

The back should be black, have you thought about getting the gear gaiter and handbrake done? Also what about the knee cushions or whatever they are called.

From the picture that is not my cup of tea.

However, were you to have the higher part of the rear bolster also colour coded along with the headrest it would be much better.

How do they colour code the door inserts? Thought there was an airbag in there?

Sorry, i'm not a fan of the blue interior. Perhaps a colour which contrasts with the black better, yet still works with the blue? Grey maybe? My concern is resaleabilty of your car. Of course if you have no intention of selling then go for it. There is a classic case on 'less popular' interior combos here:

The yellow just doesn't work here. As a result this car has been around 3 dealers and not sold in months (Sagaris' tend to sell v quickly).

Something along the lines of this?

Thanks for the input, I wanted steer away from away from the typical interior colours that you find in maldive blue Zeds, ie all black or cream, thats not to say i dont like them, but as its a custom job, i wanted different, but not less popular different. I was initally looking at a darker blue, but wasnt sure if that would clash with the colour of the car.....
I know its all down to personal preference but you always need to factor in resale.
To get a better idea of the whole look, this is what its going into.

Yeah gear gaiter is being done with black leather with blue stitching, but havent thought about hand break.....

There was a Maldives Blue half-leather option (marketing speak "Active Sports") on the Z4, along with a light grey one. It might be worth looking for a picture of that for inspiration/confirmation.

Maldives Blue looks a lot like Estoril Blue a lot of the time; so a Stone Grey interior might look cool, as was popular in the E36 M3 and with E46 M3 owner's who wanted to drop a lot of cash in the Individual catalogue.

Wow. I can't think of an exterior that would go with; but it's certainly not Maldivienblau!

This is a bit more restrained, and would probably suit the blue better.

At the end of the day mate ITS YOUR CAR do it for how YOU want it now or theres liitle point in trying to enjoy it. IMO Blue won t clash with blue they just may not contrast as well. It is a bit turquoise for my taste but be radical and long live individuality

Looks like one of those rhubarb & custard boiled sweets your gran use to eat!!

I think it looks OK in the blue but you need to ensure that it's not too bright a shade, in the end it's your baby so do what you want. Just don't expect everyone to like it, very rarely happens on this Forum and it's good that we all have slightly different tastes. :)

I love this look, think the blue might be a tad bright though. I bought my car based on the interior - red and black bi leather, paid more than a standard single colour, beacuse i did not want plain black, BMW really do not push the boat out when it come to colour, their choice is very limited and imo boring.

There is a TVR that has the most fanastic purple interior including carpets dash the works, over the top on a flip purple paint (as you may have gathered i love purple), but it needs a new engine otherwise i would have bought that. If i do not sell my TT I am considering getting it vinyl wrapped in purple and get custom purple leather, bit of an issue to sort the roof though which is blue. As long as the colours compliment each other you will be able to resell, you might even get a better price, just might take a little longer to find the right buyer. So there are people out there like me that will buy some abit different, though it is a limited market.

If you love it and it makes you smile, go for it.

Thanks for all the comments guys, makes for interesting reading.
I'm sticking with the original plan which is the blue/black combo as per first pic, and playing it safe with keeping the back of the seat black aswell. Thanks to Rudd im getting hand break cover done

My estimation of the how blue the leather is in the pics, is off. I've just come back from the place its being done to confirm final details and its a slightly darker shade as the maldives colour of car (definately no hint of turquoise) not as bright and doesnt have the shine as suggested in my pictures. Im very happy with the blue and think the combination will go great together

Booked in for the 30th, weather permitting ill get some pics up :D

was there any pics of this done? because I was gonna suggest Brown leather would be perfect match (noone said it for some reason).

That dealers just gone into administration. Hope the Sagaris had nowt to do with it!!!!!!!!!!!!

OT: Those dealers were bonafide criminals and did my mate 9k out of pocket for his lotus. They made their dealings of the back of Sale or Return and then went into liquidiation. Just need to follow the thread on PH where my mate became aware..

Back on topic. I like the sound of brown..
