Advice on numerous electrical problems suffered!!

Hi there

Hope someone can help me with a problem I got on my Z4 05 model
Basically like an idiot I left the roof down when it poured with rain and straight after started having numerous electrical problems too many to list here but main ones were power hood failure, wipers failure, Windows failure, air can failure , remote locking failure and no dash display for indicators. No main beam on headlights.
My local BMW garage I have used suggested I run a humidifier in the car for two days to see if it dries things out which I did and it did sort the headlights out but nothing else.
Any advice on what to do next?
I did read that you can do a reset by simply disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.
Will this help and are there any problems with losing settings?
Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks
Adrian

with all of that failing, sounds to me like one or more of the busses may be grounding out?

did the dashboard get soaked?
if so, that's the main hub between the cars onboard computers - but it's a pretty well sealed and "safe" unit, so I cant imagine that getting a bit of rain on the front of it would do it in.

my advice would be to try disconnecting units, one at a time, and see if everything suddenly comes back up from the dead.

the hood control is NOT directly connected to the bus, but does check it for speed reading to see if it can open or close.
If that's stopped working with the car parked, I'd probably suggest starting with that lower central control unit, unplugging it completely and see what happens.

another option is to get someone with INPA to hook up to your car and see if they can spot any oddities from within it.

I've left mine open for a weekend in the rain, and all that died for me was the airbag module

Feeling for you!!. If it were my car I would do everything you have done, then start car and let it get up to operating temperature, then put the heater on full blast into the cabin for a good while - could you then give the car a run with heater still on full blast. That may provide enough residual heat to dry up any moisture under the dash. Then leave car a day or so, disconnect battery for ten minutes then reconnect.
Let us know how you get on.

I'd go a stage further than this even. If you have a driveway or are at least in an area where you can leave the car unlocked for a while, I would put a small portable electric heater in the cabin along with a dehumidifier as well. Water and damp in carpets can take a surprising amount of time/heat/energy to suck out and make completely dry.

Obviously this would mean running a cable out of the door/ slightly open window whilst the heater is in the car though.

Bit late now perhaps but it's always advisable not to energise any electrical gear after it has experienced water-ingress due to shorting risk.
I'd suggest pulling out any connectors that you can get to, let them dry out completely and squirt some electrical contact cleaner in them, as well as any other electrical interfaces you can get to.
Presume you checked all fuses already?
