Hello All,

A friend wants to buy this Z4 and sent me this today and asked what I thought, I have no knowledge as I would say I'm still a newbie

Thoughts please the money is burning a hole in his pocket

Daisy wheel alloys aren't the most desirable. Why buy a car with a ding when there are several 3 litres around the 5k mark without needing body repairs. No pics of the interior either. Plus points: if its an SMG you are after there aren't many about, also sterling grey with red leather is a nice combo (if seats are in good nick). Headlight conversion looks good, but some of the pics show old headlights?

My take on this is its a bit pricey in the current climate, especially with those "daisy cutter" wheels and the damage. The SMG has its admirers but the majority who have experienced it seem to loathe it and it can be problematic. Its certainly not regarded to be a smooth changer like he claims in the ad. Most would rather a manual or normal auto. Honestly I wouldn't buy it unless I was desperate for the SMG. Even then I think its best part of £1,000 (if not more) over the odds. The SMG's certainly aren't worth more than a manual/auto, if anything there worth less as they are harder to shift!

Ive got the SMG and i have to say it works well........................................when in sports mode. At slow speeds it can be slow and cumbersome especially compared to newer gearboxes but overall i do enjoy it

With regards to the add, im surprised if the damage would only cost £80 to repair why not get it booked in seen as the seller is going through the process of MOT/oil filter change

All the pictures seem to be taken at different times, which normally means they are stock pictures on their phone opposed to pictures taken to sell the vehicle.

As Marlon said there is plenty of choice in the 3.0ltr market to get the right one

It seems over priced to me, especially with the damage. Also no pictures of the interior..

I checked the options out of interest, no heated seats would a big negative for me:

As a matter of interest, I asked about the service history and here's the answer:

PDI - June 2003
Oil service Feb 2005 @ 14,579
Inspection 1 Jan 2007 @ 26,689
Oil service Sept 2009 @ 40,094
Inspection 2 June 2011 @ 52,142
Inspection 2 August 2012 @ 69,149
Inspection 1 Sept 2013 @ 79,420
Inspection 2 Sept 2015 @ 84,089
Inspection 2 Sept 2016 @ 89,141

Rear pads replaced today (22/09/16), along with ABS pressure sensor 2, and the MOT was done also, with no advisories!

With Inspection 2 done this month, and reasonable servicing, it seems a reasonable buy for someone in the region of 4 thousand to 41/2 thousand?
