Ive just had my full front to rear brake pipes replaced & Front dust shields\backing plates replaced on my 3.0is E86 coupe 34116750129\34116750130 - £152.52 inc VAT for pair.

Now from my advisories i have 'Coil Spring corroded both rear springs (5.3.1(b) (i))'

I called BMW parts and seems to be part 33536761926 but i also read 33536761925 anyone know the difference ? The set of springs including VAT £149.74 it sounds like an indy could fit both the rears 1hr labour accroding to experiences of rear fitting.

Is it best just to go with the BMW OEM springs ? or is there any other springs offering improvements OEM+ ? any advice appiciated

The other advisory - 'Nearside\Offside Front Lower Suspension arm ball joint has slight play (5.3.4(a)' The indy said very slight play my next MOT due January so im not sure if these need replaced before hand or wait to see if worsened or fails next MOT, any thoughts on this if it will infact need done by January and if so again any OEM + replacements used in the E86 ?

Thanks

The 2 springs are simply for sport (33536761926) and non-sport (33536761925) options.

So depending whether you have the SE or the Sport version of the car will dictate which you go for.

For example:
Both can be found cheaper on ebay/autodoc if you don't mind strange/budget brands (Supplex/Sachs are the big two).

If one ball joint is showing wear then the others wont be far behind, best to replace the whole wishbone and lollypop bushes on both sides as they come fitted with all ball joints. I would plan on doing this after the next MOT they wont get much worse between now and then. If your going to change them yourself, winter is not the best time of the year to do it unless you can do it indoors.

Rear springs are an easy DIY job, you don't even need any tools other than a trolley jack and something to take the wheel off.
