Advice on breaking a Z4

Morning all,
There is a 4-pot pre-facelift in Sapphire Black, just appeared on FB, about 10 miles from me.
145k, roof not working, instrument panel pixels not all working.
It's up for £1495.
I am considering if the price came down a little whether I could buy it and break it.

My issue is, I haven't done this for about 20 years, when I used to do the same with Capris.
What are the rules and regulations regarding scrapping a car now?
Would I struggle to get rid of the carcass?
Do I need any environmental paperwork etc?

I know Barry (Umfaan) has done one recently so it is possible, but the last thing I want is to be lumbered with a wreck on the drive!

Most importantly, would I avoid losing money on it!

Looks like it may be prudent to ask your local ATF (scrapyard in old money) what they would charge to take a bare shell, then you can calculate from there.

'Bungalow Breakers LTD' has a good ring to it. :poke: :D

Now why didn't I find that!
Many thanks for the link.
So it seems feasible, provided I make sure there's someone who'll take it away first.

Anything is feasible if the numbers add up.

Might be useful too :)

£1500 for a scrap car sounds a lot. You will be charged by the scrapyard at the end to take the remains away and sort the paperwork, so you need to make at least £2,000 on parts to break even IMO.

It does, although if it’s got Msport seats and aero sills, you’re onto a winner already.
Well I'd be needing the front bumper myself.
Wouldn't go above £1k though, and doubt it would drop that far.
Worth watching for a while though.
It's all the little bits that start to add up. A switch here, a trim piece there.
I'll bear it in mind for now.

If it has those, I'll buy it myself and start looking for retirement villas in Monaco
