Hi Guy's

Thinking of selling Z4 and moving to a Z4M but at this stage all im after is advice on selling and advertising. I have popped it on Pistonheads but never sold a car before, so didn't know if I had got the balance right or provided too much info etc.

One thing I probably need to do is get some updated pictures and go for a premium advert with more photos, slightly better ones and newer :)

Can you let me know your thoughts? Turn ons and off's.

Comments on price, aren't that helpful, I know it's a difficult time to sell :)

fo me id say there is too much info- but depends the sort of buyer you hope to attract. May bring you a fair few test piolts!

Test Pilots? lol, you think I should strip it down and keep to the facts rather than emotional elements?

possibly a few less facts and lose the video of the car tanking along as this is what i think will attract the boy racers just wanting a go in ur pride and joy!

I like some of the ad but it could definitely be stream lined! I don't think there's any need to list OEM kit on cars like this. Buyers will know full well what it has as standard, it's the optional extras that will get noticed. It has some great extras but even so, the price is very optimistic. Even in the height of summer and with half the mileage, you'd do well to get even close to that. I'd also remove the vids and include several more pics including shots of the interior.

Good luck! :thumbsup:

Thanks for advice. I notice your in Lincolnshire Bradders, north or south? I'm Market Deeping, right on the Lincs/Cambs border.

It's too clutered... divide it into:

Extra Options;
Standard Options;
Servicing and Maintence;
Modifications.

Advert smacks of trying a little too hard and far too much emotion in it. I like lots of clear photos of it at interesting angles in a nice parkland or rural setting, clear interior shots so buyers can see seats, sat nav, trim colours, etc.

As others have said ditch the perosnal stuff, cut out anything that's standard or at least list it as such.

Think about that price. I'd say £2k over right now. Ask yourself why buy this example and if it's not price then it's the quality extras and mods it has so get them up front

Ta CJ and everyone else, im not the best at this :) Removing from Pistonheads, will work on photos etc, when weather better :)

I might get the car detailed before I do the photos and sell it, although it has turned into my baby now, with the mods etc, lol, part of me is resisting the sell. I might look at it after the detail and go mmmm lol.

Will pop it on there for 11K and see what happens early next year :) That should give me time to save up 6K for an M :P

No worries mate. Sorry about commenting on the price, I noticed after I sent it that you'd asked people not to! It's worth what it sells for I guess. Great decision to go for an /M you lucky git, I'm a couple of years off that I reckon.

I'm up in north lincolnshire, Gainsborough. :)

Welcome the comments on the price too, it's hard to value the mods you make to the car :)

Apologies that I commented on the price as I re-read and saw you asked not to :oops:

However now you welcome those comments I feel a little less bad. As owner of a similar aged, well specced Sterling Grey, similar mileage, etc. I can say that to me my car is worth £12k+, because I couldn't get half the car back for that money, but that's not actually it's sale value.

Reality is though that times are tough and buyers don't assign sentimental value, nor value to mods. That said if you trim the advert make the car look really worth a visit then someone will pay a good price when they see it.

Remember whatever you 'lose' on the sale here you'll more than recoup in the supressed ///M prices

Given the number of threads you see on here with people giving it "Oooh I never knew it did/had that!", I'd tend to disagree LOL. Never safe to assume someone buying a Z4 has either owned one before or has an original dealer brochure..... 8)
