Advice - new alloys

Hi all

Looking for some advice if anyone can shed any light. I know there's detailed discussions on this but can't seem to find what I'm after. I have a 3.0si e86 coupe, I'm looking to change my old csl replicas to 18 inch axe cs-lite alloys. My current set up is the wider alloy at the back, so 18*8 at front and 18*8.5 at back, with vredstein ultrac vorti 225/40/18 at front and 255/35/18 at back. The new alloys only come in 18*8.5 et35 width all around, I just wanted to check if this wider alloy will be ok to fit at the front with my existing tyres. Am planning to get new vredstein ultrac vortis at the back 225/40/18. Apologies if it's a basic question am slightly clueless with this. One of my cousins has a e86 coupe just like mine any says mine appears to be lower but I'm not sure if it has infact been lowered

My second question is whether anyone has any experience of these alloys or the brand, cannot find many reviews online. The other set of was looking at was fox ms007 18in which come in the staggered 18*8 at the front and 18*85 at the back

Assuming your current fronts are 18x8 ET47.

The rims will extend outwards by an extra ~18mm which I think would be a little too much.
 
Thankyou for your reply greg very helpful, do you know if there is any way you can check existing offset without taking the tyre off by any chance?

You may be OK with 18mm further out on the front.

My E86 is a Sport and I've got a set of E89 wheels on mine. The fronts are 8J x 18 with ET 29 so 18mm further out than standard ET47 wheels and I haven't had any rubbing so far (they've been on for over a year now).

The only thing is you might want to run wider tyres than 225 on an 8.5" rim, even if only for some protection for the rims.

The ET should be stamped on the wheels, either on the front or the back somewhere (BMW call it IS).
 
There is every chance you can get 18inch 8.5j et 35 front on a Si E86 ( others have done it ) but definitely don't up the tyre size from 225 40 :cry: rub would follow for sure . 225 40 18 should be ok but 215 40 would do it for sure & with the right brand of tyre wouldn't look stretched :thumbsup
 
If it's any lower than m-sport, I wouldn't go any wider than +12 or 13mm otherwise you will get some rubbing on full lock or heavy compression.
 
You'll be fine with 225/40 on 8,5" ET35 in the front.
I have 225/35-19 on 8,5" ET34 and lowered about 35mm. I use the car for trackdays from time to time with no issues. I had 235/35 on the same setup and then it rubbed lik crazy. Sorted out with more negative camber using ajustable camber plates.
Tires are Michelin Pilot Supersport, and those are pretty wide compared to other brands.

what is your size in the back please ?

They are 10x19 ET41 with 265/30-19 Michelin PSS. Sometimes they touch the plastic on the inside, so I could have gone with ET39 and still a little room left on the outside. The ET on the wheels have been modified from originally ET 37 to 41.
