Advice needed please

I would like the advice from anyone who knows anything about claiming some sort of compensation from a company which is fitting me a new kitchen.
Its been a week and half now since we have been able to cook anything as we now have a gas hob fully connected BUT we still have no oven. They omitted to tell us (it was left for us to find out, got the impression they weren't going to tell us from their attitude) that they are having trouble getting the ovens and they wont have one to fit till 11th August. I have made it known to them that we are not happy bunnies.
Also after fitting the sink I told them it was the wrong one we had chosen and still no sign of the right one.
There are also other issues which are not of such importance, but still issues.

So for a week and half we have had no coupled sink, so no water and no cooking facilities, oh and no lights and working electric sockets and still no oven for another week at least.
Its costing a fortune eating out and ready meals for the microwave.

SO would I be right in asking for some sort of compensation for the inconvenience caused? or am I being too picky?

What would you do? Any advice appreciated because I don't want to go bursting in with both feet and falling flat on my face.

Before posting this I would have asked for something extra from them. You are in the right but these things happen its how they put them right that matters. Personally I would push for a better oven which is in stock to be installed. I take it you have paid in full already? That was your first mistake.

oh that brings back memories :o

We went through something similar with our builders when extending our kitchen. In our case though it was a lack windows and doors leaving the house insecure for SEVERAL weeks which delayed things.

TBH I never even thought about compensation though. Ours was a builder doing the whole job, kitchen supplied without glitches by Howdens. Fortunately we had a contracted price, so all the delays didn't end up costing us anymore.

Totallly know where you are coming from with eating out / ready meals.... eating out every night initially sounds great, but quickly becomes sour and expensive.

Hope you get a cooker soon!

Forgot to mention that we have a final amount to pay which is paid when all work is finished and we are happy with the kitchen overall.
I might ask them if they are prepared to adjust the final payment as compensation.

gannet yeah its nice to eat out but it gets a bit boring after a while.

Without going into it in too much depth I'd say keep receipts for all the food that you have out and knock it off the final bill. If they want to argue it let them try their luck convincing a judge you were being unreasonable!

If there is a final balance then you have a bargaining tool. Is it a national chain or local company fitting it?

I hope it's not magnet, never again.

Got compensation eventually, but never give up.

Sent their national 'expert' and was a real numpty, no customer service & by the corporate book.

He commented as he entered about how amazing the floor was & how it stood out from the rest of the kitchen....proudly told him that this was the one part they didn't do...his face was a picture!
