Additional USB or 12v socket

Hi all

Iv just installed a phone holder in my e85 and id like some advise on what's the best way to add an additional 12v socket or usb so I can plug both my bluetooth receiver which runs off a 12v plug and my phone charger which needs a usb.

Id like to be able to have them both plugged in and be able to have the ash tray lid closed which would also mean id need to run the usb cable into the ashtray compartment somehow.

There's a removable panel just above the ashtray, I've fitted one there and wired into a ignition live on the fusebox

I fitted a twin usb socket with built in volt meter, obtained via ebay, drilled the plastic dash behind the steering wheel and in line with heater controls, then wired unit to cig lighter as that was the closest power source rather than go all the way across to the fuse board. I would have positioned it slightly better if doing it again as the steering wheel spoke tends to mask it from my view with the wheel set in the position I use.

+1 on putting them on the removable trim panel also a cheap part to replace as they're only £15 on ebay

Another option which is what i went for was to install one of these.

I have it in my glove box hard wired to the fuse box with a piggy back fuse. Then i ran the cables behind the dash and into the glovebox to plug in.
Also have my dashcam plugged in to it with the wire exiting behind the glovebox and up inside the A pillar
