Adding subwoofers, speaker upgrade.

I don't have nav, which isn't a concern.

I have the 6 speaker system, which surprisingly sounds ok. But do want to upgrade.

I've installed the Grom Bluetooth streaming thingy which works great, song titles etc.

I've bought a couple of carver subs from eBay for behind the seats including the support plates, and grilles. (bargain).

I have a monobloc js250 to power the subs

I also have a couple of mbquart speakers for the doors, but not sure how to incorporate these (where to get power for them).

Any recommendations or advise appreciated.

Or anyone in London recommended for a tidy install.

Cheers.

Are those subs the ones rated at 10ohms an is the amp you've got capable of powering that you may find the amp starts to clip at higher volume

Yes they're 10 ohm
They should be ok.

My amp outputs 4ohms, if I wire them in parralel, it'll drop them down to 5ohm so I'm guessing no problem?

The only puzzle is the feed. My amp has speaker level input, and was intending to feed it from the rear mids, but not sure if they are running through a crossover from the head.

6 speakers have full range signal to the speakers.

Grab that and feed it into the amp.

As for the speakers for the door, what you can do is tap them off the feed for the tweeter as that is full range.

In all honesty, FWIW, it's easier to get a pair of 2 way 6.5" components and amplify them.

Why would you want to drown out that glorious 6 cylinder soundtrack?? It's all the sound I need... :D  :driving:

Thanks Neil.
I'd read a post where it was suggested that there were crossovers/capacitors at the subs (footwell) which then feed the door tweeters.

I've found an installer and will ask them to check the signals out.
Cheers.
Btw, my sub amp has a remote volume, and just want to supplement the bass slightly. Don't want anything too overpowering.

You're right :D
It's just that my last z had 10 speakers, and this has six. Just the thought makes me feel ill even though I may never use the stereo.

I have sony Bluetooth with alpine amp in mine you need a 4 channel amp I was told to get all the speakers to work correctly and bypass the bmw amp used for the oem bww stereo. I had a mono block amp it would only play some of the speakers and not the 2 subwoofers behind the seat so I got another amp works fine now

I just added the monobloc for the subs and it works brilliantly.
The subs were a great deal on eBay, the seller had a second pair, so bought those as spares (as you do lol).

Don't suppose you fancy selling the spare pair of subs do you?
I think I should hold on to them as backup.

There's one here, at £50. They're hugely pricey from bmw.

And the other side from the us, make them an offer, but the delivery is pricey.
