Adding ipod/BT/USB to Z4 coupe

What is the easiest way to add ipod connection to a 2006 z4 3.0 si (it has DSP) and proff nav with the flip screen and CDC.
Was thinking about something Dension (I had it in my E60 and it was awesome) but apparently it is not supported on radios with DSP.

Do the Zs have a fibre optic connection for the radio/CDC also?

The easiest would be an auxiliary connector, but the result is somewhat basic at best.

You could get a bluetooth receiver and wire that to the aux connector.

Another option would be a parrot kit (instead of being wired to the car's speakers it's wired to the aux socket) the only downside is when you get a phone call you have to manually switch to the AUX input on the radio as the DSP system doesn't support Sound On Top (SOT)

I would recommend a DICE Mediabridge MB1500-BMW. Basically you just connect it to where the CD changer should connect... and it gives USB/iPod/Aux/BT audio stream/BT phone.

It works with all buttons etc, the only thing you have to add is a microphone.

Also - it's extremely easy to install. Hardest part is routing the cables. Took me <20mins all in.

As the car already has factory BT, the mic is not needed, I'd only want the BT to stream music.
And with the DICE MB1500-BMW, will it work with DSP radios?

Intravee with alpine unit is the best setup, plus you get additional settings

Did some research on the DICE and found that perhaps the DSP addon may not be needed:

If you have DSP and your car is from 2002 and before, you 100% need the Dice BMW-DSP kit

If your car is a late 2002 and up please keep reading:

In late 2002, BMW began to change from the digital coax input and went back to using their standard 6-pin plug found on every NON-DSP vehicle. This type of DSP is called "analog DSP". If you have "analog DSP" you do NOT need the DSP Add-On. If you are unsure, dont get it. If you need it, you can always come back and purchase it later.

Vehicles made after "MY2002" will need to check their connections to see what type of DSP they have. If the BMW has a CD Changer, check the connections, if its a 3 & 6 pin with NO coax, you don't need this kit. If there is no CD Changer, you need to find the factory amplifier and check for a coaxial wire or plug.

What is the best way to check if my CDC has 3 or 6 pin connector?
The car does have this option: S677A HiFi System Professional DSP so does that mean I need it?

Seen a video about the intravee where it had a bug that made it to kept on flickering between the menus. Has that been resolved? What other extra options does it have compared to the DICE?

I quite like my DICE. Everything pretty much just works.

It's a 3 pin AND 6 pin connection you're looking for. So you're aware, the module will replace your CD Changer.

I suppose the best way to find out would be to have a look. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHIfb0CW7cE shows you where to find everything.

I want to fit a mediabridge but can only find a 3 pin plug and a coax cable to my dsp amp. No 6 pin plug anywhere behind the carpet. And I don't have a cd changer.

Does the mediabridge definitely need a 6 pin plug if you have a coax cable ?

Thanks

Might not be the most elegant solution but the previous owner of my car had a parrot hands free fitted so I had the phone bit. I added the aux in cable to the head unit and bought a Bluetooth headphone thing from eBay for a whole 5 pounds connected this to the aux cable and added some power and Fixed it to the back of the glovebox with Velcro.

My phone connects to both when i switch on the ignition so I can play music without having to take my phone out of my pocket and when the phone goes the music is paused and the phone kicks in. I was so impressed with the result I did exactly the same to the wife's car this weekend

Yes, but you will need an additional DSP adapter.

I didn't need an adapter for my 2007 Z4 with DSP. You really have to get into the trunk and see what's in there. Or, do like I did: call Dice and tell them your specs. They can tell you what you "likely" need. I say "likely," as they said they couldn't guarantee that I wouldn't need the adapter, but they (correctly) said they didn't think I would need it. I didn't want to pull apart my trunk wall until I was ready for the install, so the phone call worked for me.

I second the recommendation for a Dice Mediabridge 1500. It is the best mod I've made to my car, and it came with a free Sirius radio tuner.

Yeah I'm leaning towards the DICE right now, the sirius adapter is useless for Europe so no need for it.
Just need to get some time and take apart the liner in the boot.

The more reading I do the more it seems that the Intravee gets better. Especially according to Bill here: http://www.billswebspace.com/bmwmc.htm
Is it true that you have to disable the text feature of the DICE for the nav to work?

I don't have navigation in my car, so I can't answer your question.

DICE customer support has been great for me; you could email them to ask.

I think I will go for the intravee in the end.
Seems like a lot of extra features and I could use the auto folding mirror options too :)
One question, which I am like 99% sure about.
Below is my CDC connection. That looks like the 6 pin and 3 pin connection on it right? No sign of coax cable.
So no DSP adapter needed right?
