Adding GPS to a Z4 18i

I'm sorry if this question has been answered already but I am about to purchase a 2015 z4 18i SDrive this weekend and it is equipped with the onboard computer but does not have GPS. Does anyone know if it is possible to add GPS to the on board computer? And if so, is it done through a dealership or something I can do myself?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

You've posted this in the E85/E86 area so hopefully a passing mod will move it for you - you're looking at an E89

A few options for you here - taking your statement literally, I think you're asking whether iDrive can be fitted to a car that doesn't have it already (this gives you GPS and the flip up screen in the dashboard) and the answer is, theoretically, yes - in fact someone on this forum is in the process of doing that right now. It will be *very* expensive however, both in terms of parts and labour if not completed yourself.

Other options include just using your phone and streaming audio to the car, fitting an aftermarket head unit in the space in the dashboard where the iDrive would otherwise fit - or just waiting for the right car with iDrive fitted given there are so many around to choose from.

For what it's worth I think the iDrive is great and wouldn't buy an E89 without it, but many people couldn't care less about it

The car has the flip up screen it just does not have GPS equipped according to the stand, I was wondering if it would be easy to add that functionality to the screen or if it is not possible.

If it has the flip up screen then it was fitted with sat nav and gps..

So you have a fault...not a feature..
