Took your advice and your how-to and added puddle lights to my Zed this weekend. I bought 2 strips of LED lights (12" long ea) and followed the wiring details cj10jeeper wrote up. Also changed out all the interior bulbs with LED's. I'm still trying to decide on the exterior door handle lights.

Took these in my garage tonight:

Pick of underneath the door where the strip is installed:

The footwell light holder needs to be adjusted slightly to accommodate these bulbs. I've tried other bulbs and other LED bulbs, these work the best so far: Interior LED bulbs. You can get brighter ones, look over this suppliers store/list and experiment.

Ducks thanks for the quick reply! I just purchased some!

Could u also point me in the right direction for jeepers write up for the instalation of the LED strip.
i did a search but didnt find anything...

Hey - that's great and as always later developments add improvements. I like the idea of the strip light which seems to have recently become widely available.

Echo the comment that taking time is essential on this one, everything from cable routing to building the small loom in the door and routing it.

Must look at the inside LED's myself. Strangely something I never did

I changed out the overhead bulb with a "standard" 194 LED a few months ago, one similar to this:

It gave good downward directional illumination and a little outward. However, this wouldn't be the configuration I needed for the footwell area. It needed a bulb that fired in all directions and didn't over/under illuminate. So I experimented with these which did the trick: 11 SMT LED's

You can get bulbs like this with more LED's if you want brighter illumination according to personal preference.

After looking under the door for a good place to add puddle lights I decided to use the area where cj10jeeper had located his but instead of an arrary I chose to use a strip.
Clean the area where this is going to be installed thoroughly and use isopropyl alcohol as a final wipe. The very thin double sided tape should hold for a very very long time and is waterproof. The one I installed is 12 inches long.

they are flat...180degree viewing angle, mount flush against any flat area. doesn't stick out. real bright! oh BTW, my car didn't have foot well illumination standard. I put these in with same LED shown above.
