I have a 2009 35i with iDrive and it only has a 3.5mm aux input in the the glove box, no audio usb. Is it possible to retro-fit a usb? It does have the connectors for the mobile snap-in adapter if that helps.

There is a usb in the glove box but that’s for loading the hard drive, sat nav etc. Only 3,5 in the arm rest.

your arm rest not like this then
Excuse the dust haven't valeted inside yet :o

Yes it is and it's the glovebox usb that I' talking about. It does have the usb in the glovebox but you can't play music direct fro a usb in that one. I'm asking if there is a simple retrofit for the usb in the arrest. (I might have confused you by getting my opening post wrong :headbang: )

Yep, so there is the usb in the glovebox but that can't be used for audio usb (other than to load the hard-disk) but no audio usb in the armrest.

I guess all this means that there isn't a simple retro-fit for a USB in the arm rest then. Shame.
Is a snap-in adapter for my iPhone6 worth having or should I just ignore it?

Cool. That saves me the expense and work getting something done that I wouldn't even use that much :D

Can't see the point of connecting phone when it will just be for phone calls and that will work via Bluetooth, although you won't be able to charge it.
For your music why not buy a cheap MP3 player that will connect via the aux socket

It is possible to remove the phone cradle part from the arm rest storage compartment and there is rubber mat the same as the rubber mats at the bottom of the cup holders available from BMW to fit in the space left and cover any holes.
I removed the one from our car as it was just taking up space and was never going to be used.
