Adaptive suspension

Just bought a 35i which has adaptive suspension, picking it up next weekend, Is the ride height the same as the normal suspension until you hit sport which lowers it 10mm or is it lower than the std suspension in normal mode?

Congrats Frankie.

The car sits 10mm lower than standard all the time, sport doesn’t lower the car, the adaptive shocks just stiffen up.

Yes keep an eye, it’s one more thing in a long list on 35i cars that can and does go wrong. No lowering just stiffness changes.

Haven't committed yet. Anything I should look out for with the suspension, also how do it ride in std mode compared with the non adaptive suspension

This makes a lot of sense, Chris. When we first got the 35iS, my wife commented how comfortable it was in 'Normal'.

Where's the diagram from? (It's not in my handbook.)

I actually don't know it's origin, just that it pops up when people ask this question :P. It looks like maybe a press release or technical sales document from the E89 launch? It certainly 'feels' about right I'd say, although getting rid of the run flats makes an even bigger improvement.

This is a good read aswell:

Personally I really like it, it's fairly comfortable (if a bit loud) in comfort and then Sport/Sport+ genuinely make a major difference to the feel of the drive. Ditching the run flats is a revelation honestly, get rid as soon as you can.

Thank you, Chris.

(The runflats on mine, even the two new, went within a month of buying the car. That done, I run 'BMW pressures' - 36 front, 44 rear - which many members find high, but which I, after 5 years in a 911, find exactly right and comfortable in 'Normal' in the 35iS.)
