Adaptive cruise control

Just got back from a week down the Kernow, took her indoors new Evoque with adaptive, once we’d got on the A30 near Bodmin I never touched the throttle or brake pedal again until some services in Gloucester....utterly fantastic feature, if you get the chance spec it on your next motor....makes motorway slogs a doddle.. :D :driving:
 
I have similar in the X6.
Much better than normal cruise as it slows down if someone in front is going slower and keeps a specific gap, that you can also select, then returns to the preset speed once the road is clear or you change lane.
You have to watch in busy traffic as you can be doing 15mph behind someone and if they change lane and your lane is clear the car will accelerate as quickly as possible back to the preset cruise speed. This could be a problem if someone moved into your lane in front of you again.
I have also used it in very slow stop start traffic and the car will keep a few car lengths distance at all times and even brake to a standstill and move off again.
It takes a lot not to intervene if the traffic slows quickly in front of you but up to now it has been faultless, even though in extreme circumstances an alarm sounds which I think is the car asking for a bit of help in braking.
Its not as fuel efficient as driving it yourself I have found.

I agree its amazing! I have it on my 2015 Golf GTD and it makes long journeys soo much easier! I drove 7 hours from Swadlincote to Glasgow on Thursday and the ACC made it more pleasant!

We’ve got it on our new Prius. Never had it before. Allied to an mpg of over 71 when running about. Brilliant! :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
