That's the point I'm making really, I think tramlining is as much,if not more, tyre specific as it is related to wheel size. As stated I have never had an issue on 19" Michelins and that's the way I would go if I wanted to avoid the problem. About 14 years ago my 330C tramlined really badly on the Bridgestones it came with from new. A change to PS2s eliminated it almost completely.

My car came with CSLs on Michelin PS2s when I bought it at the end of November 2008.dgm said:

I posted at the time (Jan 2009) that they would almost launch the car across to the other side of the road if you hit any imperfections in the road (e.g. cats eyes). Put the 224s back on with OEM Conti's and I felt the ride/handling improved significantly, with them also providing much more margin for error on bumpy roads.
Maybe there's also something in the fact that they were on a coupe - which they suit more than the roadster, but also have to cope with the added stiffness of the coupe?
We've had similar discussion between us several years ago mmm-five and arrived at the same point of disagreement. I drove the car with the OEM wheels and Contis when I first got it and found the Contis to be a poor tyre compared with the PS2s that I'd been running on my 330C and M3 that preceded the Z4. Once the CSLs and Michelins went on it felt like a different car for the better in respect of the ride and handling. On PSSs it's even better IMO. I'm running OEM suspension on some really poor roads around here and don't find the 19s to be an issue, I think perceived negatives towards the 19s are often overblown on here.
