Active Autowerke Z4 M software tune

Active Autowerke has developed their own tune for our M's for a reasonable $499. Early reviews from USA Z4 M owners seem to be positive (see zpost.com for more). Now I had a look at their website and on the Customer Questions section on the Z4M tune product page i saw this question and AA's answer.

10/21/2010 -- Is the rpm limiter raised or is the stock 8000 rpm limit maintained?

Response From Active Autowerke: We maintain the stock RPM limit, however we keep the throttle open an additional 1500 RPM prior to them closing for the limiter.

Can someone help me in understanding what they mean by "we keep the throttle open an additional 1500RPM" ? How can they keep the stock RPM limit but then say they keep the throttle open for another 1.5k? :?

But by posting it here then everyone will see the answer and it might help someone else in the future too! I'll probably email them tomorrow or something and then post that here as well but i thought that maybe you guys can help.

Can only mean it cuts in slightly later but at the same rpm if that's even possible..

Whats the gain supposed to be on the map? Presume it's really for cars with stock exhaust & intakes too..

A USA owner reported a 27 rwHP gain with Supersprint Race exhausts and this tune. His thread that includes a dyno run as well, is here: http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=449998

Whats more important is that now they`re working on MSS65 ECU it`s only a matter of time before their S/C kits are Z4M compatiable !

I had a look at AA's autorised dealers and as well as CA Automotive coming up, so did Evolve Automotive. Checked their site and they seem to know what they are on about and don't bull sh!t you.

No mention of a remap for the Z4M, but there is for the M3... http://www.evo-s.co.uk/shop/index.php?cPath=6_2375_2409_3002&osCsid=d2df2c4ce821449b833f62cbd5c77df5

Still their 13 BHP increase for the 3.0 M54 is optimistic IMO.

I can't see you getting much mroe power out the S54.

You can get good gains and still keep it naturally aspirated but it's not exactly cost effective. Getting an almost 400hp naturally aspirated S54B32 is possible, it just wont be very smooth for everyday driving. But then again you can always spend the same amount of money and get more than 100hp extra with a supercharger kit..
