OK so what exactly does it do? Is it required?

Clearly it's sitting between the top of the fuel tank and the filler cap, so it's in the fume venting line. Is it removing petrol odour from vapour or something else? seems unleaded has it but not leaded (not that I even knew thee were leaded fuel Zed's around, so guess that's some odd overseas markets)

Just another thing I may have to move to free up space I need on the rear right hand wheel arch

Anyone with an M roadster - where is it located on your set up?

This is the diagram for my MC (which also happens to share the same diagram as the MR):

It's purely to collect 'toxic' elements of the fuel vapour from the tank breather.

It's not required in the countries that use leaded fuel as those countries are not bothered about air quality - hence they don't care if petrol fumes from the tank ventilation escape or not.

Cheers Tony. I saw the ///M diagram too, but was not sure where they had actually located the unit in the ///M?
The implication from the drawing is they hid it in the passenger side somewhere.

I may have to put mine higher up in the void behind the wheel arch

From the quick look I had, I couldn't see it from the boot, cabin or rear wheels (when jacked up of course), so I assume it's behind the wheel arch liner somewhere.

I'm sure I spotted it above between the back boxes covered by the diffuser, could be wrong though.

Cheers guys. Between the back boxes would be a good place as on the M's there's a lot of empty space there, just the reinforcing bar running fore to aft and up at 45 degrees
