Acknowledgement of other z4 drivers

I flash, occasionally wave, smile........ only ever one guy who waved back and then we kept each other company all the way from Junction 21 M1 to Leicester. We have matching cars.
Apart from that there are a couple of women who I regularly see driving their cars, who ignore me. Could be because I only have an E85 and not an E89 so I may not be worthy - I am younger though ( oooooh, b*tchy ).

I would wave to other Z4 drivers but needless to say not all BMW drivers are as friendly as the people on this Forum. :(

Back in the 70's we had a red MGBGT - always got a wave from another MG owner whatever model.

Back in the 90's we had a red 24v Probe - had a few waves but not for the right reasons

Back in the noughties we had a red Lotus Elan M100 - never ever saw another one so never had a chance to find out.

Fellow vw campervan drivers always wave - jolly cheery bunch :D

There's not many Z4's around here - don't really think they're rare enough to wave - but would wave back if one waved to me .

I must be lucky then, I went for a quick spin a few weeks ago and whilst driving through Woodbridge a Mazda mx5 driver gave me a flash and a thumbs up as it was a lovely sunny day with our roofs down, I was well chuffed to be acknowledged, I know always flash or give a thumbs up to all convertibles

on the whole I get a good response from a thumbs up, didn't get many from the z3 occasional old men.

I always try and wave not to the e89s tho.

I don't know how many other Z4 forums there are, so I can't compere. The camaraderie shown with the Marmite project tells me that the guy's and gal's that post on here is to be revered. As a Biker I don't always get an acknowledgement, so it is in the Z4 too.
So don't lose heart, there are some of us who will be less mean-spirited. I will always acknowledge another, whether or not they acknowledge first.

Why not?

To me it's not the same, don't get me wrong the e89 is very nice, but its not an original z4

I used to wave at Z4 drivers since I got my car last September :driving: but gave up after having zero response back . I sometimes wave at sports cars who are out for a run on the moors/dales with their hood down and have had responses from a few :D I couldn' t see sometimes if it was two fingers or a wrist movement though :D :driving:

Best acknowledgement I ever got was driving through Stratford-upon-Avon. Silver roadster coming the other way, roof down - I raised one hand a little, he hits me back with a double fist pump above his head. :D

Have you got your Porsche Carol?

Picking it up Tuesday probably :D
The older boxster had head gasket problems they liked to blow even under low revs iam not sure about the later ones I would do some research before u take the plunge this is why I picked the Z4 over a 2002 boxster : )

Id wave if someone wave to me. I was going to wave to another coupe owner, and got snubbed lol just drove straight passed :|

I tend to wave at fellow coupes but not roadsters - far too common in my neck of the woods. In my mgb we always acknowledge classics, particularly fellow mgbs with a big wave. Austin Healeys never respond...!

I'm going to forget and flash a zed (all types, I'm no snob :D )
They're going to think it a bit weird. Maybe then I'll get a response.

I agree with most others, Other Zed drivers just seem to blank you :?, I can understand it if you we were driving around in joe average motors - But a Zed isn't a joe average motor (Or any other sports car for that matter), they are usually owned by people who are interested in their cars!.
Very different when I had my Se7en, On the rare occasion you saw another out on the roads, you usually ended up stoping somewhere for a cup of tea and a chat about Lotus wink engines, whether you were going somewhere or not  .

Stu.
