Accuracy of Brake Pad Sensors

Does anyone else find their brake pad sensors a bit iffy? Mine has been saying i'll need new rear brake pads in 2900 miles BUT it's been saying this for at least the last 6000 miles ? :(
 
Mine did this on my E87. I got another 12k out of them although BMW would have happily changed them earlier when they serviced it and reported only a few K left. Bloody stealers.
 
Mine said 1300 miles for 3000 miles and dropped down to 900 miles today ill expect to change them in 5k at this rate
 
We have this problem with our almost 2 year old E91, according to our local dealer it is saying 1400 miles for the front but 17k for the rear!!!! They have said they will look at it under warranty but if the pads do need changed then that bit is chargeable so we are waiting til after Christmas! Bit that annoys me is it was serviced in September and they said both sets were fine and not worn, so why do the sensors now think they are?
