Accident yesterday E89

If you go down the BMW route, get clarification of where the repair will be taking place. I booked an E46 into Sytner Leicester with similar damage and later found out it had been taken to a small non BMW bodyshop! Their view was that I didn't ask and that they used genuine BMW parts so no problem... :x

Dont ignore the neck pain so quickly.the same thing happened to me five years ago and I ignored it despite all the phone calls. Now I am suffering big time with my neck, so much that I saw my Doc who said its most likely from the car accident.I should have had some physio at least.

Well called my insurers and its all been sorted. Because the 3rd party are insured and admitted fault, there is no excess to pay and luckily my insurers approved garage is my local BMW dealer, Berry. Car goes in on Tuesday next week, and they have an accident company they use who are loaning me a 13 plate Z4 28i Auto, for 10 days.nsounds excessive and that's how the make their money. A sure they will charge the insurer of vehicle who hit me, £500 quid a day!!!!!

Also my insurers have said they will have their legal team appoint someone to assess my neck injury and liaise with my doc. Not sure on this and going to see how my neck feels by the end of the weekend. It hurts today but not enough to think there is an issue.

Get it looked at. I was invloved in a bump and ignored the pain for a few weeks but it ended up getting worse so had to go for physio.

Had to take 6 half days off work that i could have probably claimed for..

the ambulance chasers won't let up and you don't need to tell them.

If you use the BMW version (your BMW body shop will advise) you'll get BMW body shop, warranty and a hire car of equal standard if its not your fault.

Worked for me when some daft fat tart reversed in to me at a fuel station some years ago!
daft fat tart

Mine was also taken into a BMW bodyshop (David Holmes/Williams Stockport) when I had my light altercation with a lorry.

The e90 M3 I had after my accident was 'only' £350 a day, but it was still taken to court because of hire costs being about double the repair cost. They reduced the costs in the end as the hire company couldn't truly justify their £3.5k bill when I'd confirmed that I'd have been happy with a £100/day runaround (i.e. 3-series BMW from Avis) for a fortnight.

What the accident company didn't make clear - despite me asking - was that they were also charging for loads of extras that I didn't need or want (like-for-like insurance at £20/day extra, sat-nav at £10/day extra, excess waiver at £50/day extra, and charging £100 each time to pick-up and drop-off).

So day 3 and my neck still feels ok ish....surely it would have got worse by now??? Just don't want to pursue anything for something that isn't there......is it likely to get worse or is this about it?? Just feels like I have cricked my neck....

Get it checked ,mine didnt give me any real trouble for 5 years ,just the niggles like you say you have, and now its really bad.

And we wonder why our insurance premiums are so high. There are so many taking their slice out of our misfortune and rubbing their hands in glee!

I thought the fitting of all cars with head restraints was supposed to have stopped whiplash injuries, and these were only pursued by ambulance chasing companies nowadays?

It's crazy. Sad thing is, BMW said they would only paint my front bumper, as I asked as a favour, for free if I used their accident claim company, as they told me, in officially, they get a kick back from the company. If I didn't use them, then they would only do the work as quoted.

Apparently my insurers get 15% off parts and labour, so their margins at the dealers are reduced

If you're dealing directly with he 3rd party insurer then ask them to provide you with a decent courtesy car. If they refuse then point out that you'll be forced to use an expensive accident management company.

However, make 100% sure you cannot be chased for any hire car charges shoud the 3rd party decide to dispute the extortionate charges.

Stark, good advice from mm-five there, I had a similar incident years ago and also went thru an accident manage company, as the other parties ins co refused me a hire car while mine was being repaired.

I had a heavily modified cavalier(2yrs old at the time) which someone ran into the side of from a side street/admitted fault, I got a top-spec Astra as a loan car, which hire charges equalled repair bills to my car/new door front wing and bumper, etc!!
Old guys ins co disputed the hire charges, so had to fight to sort it out..so beware, Best as said, ask for a loan car from avis/hertz etc. paid directly from other parties ins.co....save any hassle for you

Well spoken to Accident Exchange and their contract states that if the 3rd part insurer fails to pay, they will not seek payment from me or my insurance company. Funny thing is I had a call today from an accident company called Paribas or something, and they are working on behalf of the insurance company of the guy who hit my car.

They are trying to manage the amount of money paid out, and asked if they could assist with car repairs, hire car etc....and perhaps to stop the larger cost coming to their client. BMW repair, Z4 10 day rental etc etc

Question is, do I use one of these insurance liaison companies to act on my behalf or let my insurers get all I am entitled to....

Let your insurer do it - thats what you pay for.

Ok so I got my 13 reg Z4 28i today, and what a pile of crap!! Sorry, and yes I'm probably spoilt coming from a fully loaded 35i..... This car has nothing!!!! Crap stereo, no keyless, no electric seats...and all the wheels are kerbed and big dent in rear bumper. Only 1000 miles on it.

Swapping it for a brand new 335i convertible tomorrow in black......
