Accident Exchange

I had a prang in the Zed the other week (read here) and brought the car up to the local dealer - new drivers door required.

Anyways, I was contacted by a company called Accident Exchange - BMW had provided my details to them so they could manage the claim.

I'm always a little dubious when these middle-men get involved. Has anyone dealt with them (or similar) before? Should I be on the look-out for anything?

Thanks,
David.

I havn't used this particular one, but my buddy runs just such a company.

Basically they step in on not your fault accidents and seek to assist you. They tend to make their money by renting out a prestige car to you and charging the other guys insurance company. They may also be looking for accident compensation claim work, but their 'meat' is the vehicle rental.

The real trick is that many insurers just offer you a Nissan micra or equal while these guys get you a like for like and rent out for serious money

Have a chat and see what they say. Little to lose so long as you make sure your not liable for anything.

Thanks -

Unfortunately, since the other party has changed his tune about liability (he drove into my car, when it was stationary in heavy traffic) later on. No independent witness would step forward in London traffic, so it's his word against mine.

Guess I am going to have to go through my own insurance company - but they said they could assist with that, too.

David.

I see now the separate but linked threads. Best stick to your own insurance company than risk/incur a further liability

Especially if the claim goes 50% later on then your vehicle rental of x'000 pounds will inflate your claim enormously, and therefore subsequent premiums for next year's insurance will go up even more.
