Hi All,
I found this post of some months ago and I'd like to ask for some help as I'm trying to access the iPod/AUX wiring from the back.
My Z4 has 2 audio accessories:
iPod/AUX interface with stereo jacks and iPod flat cable for control (I think it's OEM).
Parrot bluetooth
With the iPhone 4 I seem to remember I was able to use the "media audio" bluetooth profile, with a new Android it only shows the "call audio" bluetooth profile, so I have no access to high-quality audio from that bluetooth.
Anyone noticing the same, please let me know?
The iPod/AUX interface
Instruction manual
Where could I find the manual to manage the iPod/AUX part in the Business CD Radio?
At first, it looks simple, you just need to press the "mode" button till you get the right source, but then you need to select between IPod and AUX with other numbered buttons. And it doesn't keep the settings. And sometimes there's no audio coming out.
I can't get my head around as to how to select that properly.
Audio connectors
The AUX connector seems to be loose/broken and the right channel sometimes disappears depending on how I move the cables.
The iPod/AUX cables come out from under the small plastic compartment at the back of the passenger seat.
If I could remove that panel, I could check, fix or replace the cable. Is there a video guide to do that on Youtube? How do you do it?
Can you access it from the boot?
iPod adapter
The iPod adapter has a flat cable for power+control+audio.
On ebay I've found an adapter from iPod to USB+audio, so I could power a USB bluetooth stereo adapter connected to the relevant stereo jack.
It looks like it doesn't get enough power from that iPod-->USB cable although my Android App tells me that it delivers ~500mA of current when charging. This issue hasn't been solved yet.
Moreover, no sound comes out of that source even connecting the stereo jack directly to my phone.
Is it because that interface has to "sense" the iPod control connections before activating the audio input?
Or is it because that interface is also somehow broken and needs changing?
There's also the remote possibility that the iPod-->USB+audio adapter I've bought is faulty, but I have no other way to test it.
Again, I'd need to access the wiring from the back and see what's going on.
If anyone has had to work on this in the past, I would be really grateful to read your experience.
Thank you.
