Access to rear shock mounting ?

I need to get to the top orf the rear damper mounts to put a new bump stop on.

Can I just move the carpet trim or does the hood storage compartment need to come out? And if it does -how tricky?

I've done this on a 3 series coupe before which was a doddle with much more space.
