AC use related coolant leak

hi,

just a precheck before removing the front bottom cover to see what's going on

so, I see coolant leak after using the AC on the bottom cover at the front right side close to the wheel

reading the forum, it is probably the sealing got "dried" out

where to look for this sealing?

thanks

Not sure if you're aware but one of the functions of ac is to dry the air, as such the removed water is discharged under the car, so unless your coolant expansion bottle is low you likely don't have a leak.

Anti freeze has a sweet taste but I don't recommend drinking it, but you could perhaps use that fact to determine if the water is indeed coolant

thanks

I'm aware of the water discharge and last year I didn't bother seeing liquid dropping the same position

but now the coolant low warning bonged me, probably the car was loosing coolant from time to time when using the AC

My 23i has consistently lost about an egg cup full of coolant every year. I would top off the coolant and check again in a few weeks.
I would check the coolant at least every month, just to be safe.

jacked up the front this morning

didn't see any sign of leakage in the engine bay

even the stain, I saw the other day, on the bottom cover from below is gone completely (I was driving in rain, after I saw the thing)

I'll be doing the same then

There shouldnt be a corrolation between coolant leak and aircon usage.... but there will be a discharge of the condensate during use of aircon.. dont know where it discharges under the car....

yep, it wasn't that - I didn't remember well where I saw the stain on the cover

(it was oil from the gearbox rear and a different cover)
