AC Schnitzer racing Coilovers

Its not great but I don't think it warrants a £2k change!! Should have bought another car.

I actually find it quite similar to the CTR I used to drive many moons ago.

i'm sorry i have to agree ..

Thats coolio imo its just not that bad!!! I will definatly swap out when mine gets baggy but @ 10k miles thers no point at all.

Ever drove an fq400???? Lol

Ride may not be all that but handling is great, not a big enough issue to me , just my opinion :-)

Has no I've gone half way between standard and coilovers. Thinking Bilstein B6 or B8 shocks and eibach springs, can be done for less than £1k.

Not sure I agree. I find the ride acceptable most of the time the issues arise when driving on poorly surfaced roads which cause handling issues, the car can actually feels like it's trying to go against you as it bumps around. I often wonder if this is down to the stiffness of the chasis and short wheelbase rather than damping. I mean how come no one moans about the m3 cs or csl, I doubt BMW would have given us inferior dampers to these cars. Coilovers will probably make the car even stiffer for road use.

i think maybe my opinion is scewed, i drive my car once/ twice a week, usually to the class smooth local sprint track, i then hoon around and revel in how good the suspension is on the track.....

i drive the car so little during the week that its just not an issue that sticks out to me.

when the time arrives ill definatly swap to nitrons, i love the minimal lowering (only 1cm) and i love the camber plates up front.

i believe alot of these aftermarket setup with the dampers set to soft will be more comfortable than stock...

Comfort doesn't really bother me, I don't think the ZM is a particularly uncomfortable car really to be honest. It's just handling as has been said. I'm going for bilstein B6's I reckon. Although I'm debating whether to just go the whole stretch and get coilovers.. Hmm decisions

I'd be interested to experience those bilsteins playa, could be a good solution for day-to-day when coiloverz is overkill...

Exactly what I'm thinking. B6's or B8's though, that's the question :)

From my research the B6's are the ones to go for and can accommodate both the stock springs and the slightly lower eibachs (that I run) just fine. I reckon I'm about to pull the trigger on these and have them fitted next week.

B6's are here

http://www.regals-motorsport.co.uk/bilstein-b6-front-left-shock-absorber-bmw-z4-m-coupe-roadster-p-18927.html

€450 for the fronts and about €400 for the rears.

Fronts are £190 each and rears are £120 each so £620 all in, plus £200 for Eibach springs :D

Also, the website states:

The B6 dampers are a direct replacement for stock dampers and offer increased performance. They can be used with standard or lowering springs. (If you will be fitting lowering springs at the same time we recommend going for the B8 dampers)

My gut feeling is that these will make very little difference. It doesn't bother me too much the car still handles well and can keep up with the best its just that odd time on the wrong road that issues occur. Strangely the faster you go the better it seems.

heres some pics of the nitron kit, which is imo the best we have for the z4m.

the dampers can be MADE to you height specs,
the single nob operates bump and rebound, and the pillow mount top mounts just scream quality.
note this kit uses the eibach rear spring from the pro sprin kit teamed with nitrons damper setup

add the turner adjustable rear arms, to really fine tune setup

susp_tms_camberarms_lg.jpg

with the added control of camber front and rear, i think this setup will give you a VERY nice fast road/track setup BUT.... unfortunatly its very expensive...

maybe the type of roads i drive the vehicle on make my views differ to other people but honestly i drive on the track reguarly and out of everything ive done the suspension is one area im happy to leave at the moment.... cant say im not tempted to buy the nitron setup though :-)

think im going to get simpson to do me a fast road alignment when im their in the next few months.

either way OP im sure you new setup is FAR better than the stock items as bilstein have always been the business when it comes to shocks.

playa will your new shocks lower the car more?? if so id be concerned about the front rubbing, the z4m with csls really cant take to much up front without camber with 19s.

dito - thats exatly what I think - not as harsh and crashy as the CTR so it seems 'soft' to me.

If you wan't a very simple solution why don't get the H&R monotube? U can adjust height

driven on these personally and they were WAYY to hard for street use... the car literally shook itself to bits.... not nice.

i like the nitron bump and rebound single adjuster:-)
